Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 4000 Air Stik Ultra-Slim Oscillating Fan

Customer Review: Small, good-looking fan
Summary: 4 Stars

They're not kidding...this fan is SLIM! There are upsides and downsides to having such a small footprint.

Pros:
Very stylish
Doesn't take up much desk space

Cons:
Very narrow air band... if you're not oscillating, you have a very small region that gets cooled
If you press the buttons without holding onto the fan, you're going to move the whole thing (the buttons take a decent amount of force and the fan is very light)

Overall, I'm glad I got this for my purpose (it's on all day at my desk at work).

Customer Review: Bedside Fan
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this fan to help keep me cool in my room at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. It sits on a box next to my bed and works great for what I need. I have a bigger fan in the door to bring cooler air in and this one next to the bed. The lights on the front are pretty bright and can be annoying, but I put duct tape over them to darken them up a little. It also sometimes has a little rattle from the fan, but it hasn't caused me to lose any sleep yet. All in all, it has been very good for me and I only wish the lights on the front were darker or could be dimmed.

Customer Review: Decent fan but not quiet
Summary: 3 Stars

The air flow is focused and not very powerful, but it's good enough to use for desk use. The problem is that the fan isn't quiet, even at the lowest setting. Also there is no timer, and there is no way to plug this into an external timer because the switch is digital. Other than that it's a decent fan with a slim elegant design.

Pros:
* Slim, elegant
* Tilt function
* Good airflow

Cons
* Noisy even at lowest setting
* No timer, and can't use external timer because of digital switch

Customer Review: I like it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this fan for my desk and it has met all my requirements. It's reasonably quiet and has a small footprint. And positioned about 18" away from where I sit it's very effective at it's low speed setting.

Make no mistake, this is a desk fan, not a room fan. For this it's perfect.

And finally, in response for those raters who mentioned it's too light and moves when it's turned on, the on-off button takes much less force if you press the outside edge - not the center.

I'm happy with it.

Customer Review: Good product: but one problem I hadn't foreseen
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this fan about a month ago, to fit in a tight spot on my work desk. It seems to be a good product: it's very compact and occupies a very small footprint, relative to its cooling power. It's tolerably quiet, albeit not silent. The one deficiency that I hadn't foreseen is that, unlike radial fans, you cannot direct the airstream up or down. It can only be directed horizontally. Therefore, you have to mount the fan at a height that's exactly correct, relative to the level at which you want the airstream.
