Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 52" Oscillating Pedestal Fan

Customer Review: Quite disappointed
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this fan to use primarily in my bedroom, which is about 10ft by 12ft. It is a decent fan in a lot of ways, but it disappoints where it really matters.

Pros
- It looks pretty nice.
- It is not too difficult to assemble.
- It is pretty quiet, except as noted under Cons, below.
- The remote works pretty well, except as noted under Cons, below.

Cons
- The airflow is dismal. I sit about 8 feet away from the fan, and even at full power (there are three levels), with the fan directly facing me, I an barely feel it. Very disappointing.
- When on its highest setting, the fan begins to sound like it's broken. Perhaps mine is, and should be RMA'd, but the cost of doing so would not be worth it considering the price.
- It makes a loud and annoying beep whenever it turns on or off. Shorter and much less annoying beeps are used when changing speeds.
- The remote feels very flimsy, particularly the battery cover. 2xAAA Batteries are not included.
- The buttons on both the fan itself and the remote are hard plastic, and feel really cheaply made.
- If you are using the remote to control the fan, you might not be able to see the indicators on the fan itself to know which level each setting is on. The remote itself does not have indicators. This would primarily be an issue for the timed-deactivation, as you can easily tell which speed it's on, or whether it's oscillating.

If the airflow had been good none of the other things would have really mattered too much but as it stands I am very unhappy with this fan and I do not recommend it.

Customer Review: Great Height
Summary: 4 Stars

Ordered this fan because of its height so I could use it in the bedroom with a tall bed and it works great in that environment. Easy to assemble, just a few screws in the base and insert the pole. The height adjustment "nut" is made of plastic and does need to be turned very tight to hold. Once I set the height, I'm not planning on changing it, but would be a bit concerned that with repeated use that nut might break. The base if fairly big, about 15" wide. High speed isn't what I would call quiet but it's not too annoying and after a bit the sound is just white noise. The remote does need to be pointed directly at the unit to function. Also of note, the fan doesn't actually attach to the pole, it just sits on top, so if you pick it up to move it, beware, the fan will come off - that could be a plus in that it's easier to carry two pieces rather than one tall fan - or it could be a minus in that you have to carry two pieces.

Customer Review: Quiet, effective.. almost perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this fan for my smaller bedroom (about 300 sq ft) which serves as a guest room / office. It gets pretty warm in there because there are no windows, I don't have central A/C, and don't control my heat. This fan is great because it fits perfectly between the foot of the bed and the wall. The pedestal allows me to prop the fan above the height of the bed so wherever you are, you get a nice breeze. It's very quiet too (compared to a Honeywell oscilating tower fan that I also recently purchased), so operation while sleep is no problem.

I'd rate this fan five stars if it wasn't for one issue: loud beeps at press of buttons. This may not bother some, but whenever you press a button on the fan (on, off, speed, etc) it beeps VERY loudly. Not sure why the manufacturer felt this was necessary.

Customer Review: Love this fan
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely love this fan. I have a 16" round fan by Lasko. It still works great, but takes up so much room. I decided to order this one, because I needed an additional fan. This one is so much quieter and doesn't take up hardly any room. I also think it puts more air out than the round fan. If it wasn't for the breeze, I wouldn't be able to tell that this fan is on (that is how quiet it is). I love it so much I have since purchased a second one. Also, the remote is very responsive it does not have to be pointed directly at the fan for it to work. My round fan, you practically have to stand on your head at a certain angle to get the fan to respond to it. Anyway, you won't be sorry if you purchase this fan. Did I mention I LOVE it?:)

Customer Review: Great Tall Quiet Sleek Fan
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a fan that could be extended high and it had to be quiet and have a small profile. I took a lot of time looking at different models available and am glad to have decided on this fan! I use it in my dental operatory at work because our A/C system has very poor venting leaving my room with poor air circulation being at the end of the hall. This fan is set to the slow speed and it provides just the right amount of breeze at hardly any sound level. I keep it extended at its highest level. It definitely keeps me and my op much cooler and is hardly noticeable in the corner! I haven't used the remote and other options really, but I am sure they would work fine (sleep, on/off, timer, rotate).
