Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable ThermostatCustomer Review: Lasko Heater - Its Portable - Its Functional - OMG Its Affordable! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a insulated storage room outside to store sensitive items, such as canned jars of jam, or electronics that I don't want fried by the outside cold and moist air. However, during the winter, this room can still get as low as freezing if I don't run a heater inside. My old heater was a Holms cheapo that lasted about 5 or 6 years and then it died.
EXPERIENCE: As I have already said in this review, I have always been a fan of Lasko products. Because all I want is a heater that works, and when it comes to them, they honor that role well. This heater is very user friendly, all I have to do is plug it in, set it up on a stable base, preferable 10-inches above the floor. I then can turn it on by the left power knob to my desired power level. The heater element warms up very quickly, and is able to heatup my 5 by 10 storage room in about 10-minutes on low, and half that time on high.
I followed the instructions in the manual in regards to heating up the room, and it indeed did turn off after I moved the thermostat knob, on the right side of the unit, down. I then left the room and came back 30-minutes later, and the heater was holding the temperature well. I just want the room luke warm, nothing more, and the Lasko heater seems to perform.
CONCLUSION: Weather your looking for a heater to keep a storage room warm, or to keep your feet warm in the computer room, this is the one to do it. Its both sleek in design, functional, and most of all, it is affordable. From my experience with this heater, I recommend it to anyone, 5 out of 5.
Customer Review: Personal Heater Only Summary: 3 Stars
I use this heater in my home office which is exactly 108 sq. feet. After 3 hours continuous use the only warmth in the room is where the heater is directly pointed at (on me). In fact, since I work on my laptop I can't have the heater directly facing me, so only half my body is warm; the other half is freezing. My wife said that at her old job everybody had this exact same heater and they had it under their desk to warm their feet. I think that's exactly what this heater was made for.
It's very small (smaller than a human head) and fairly quiet (though I'm generally not bothered but these sort of white noises). A small problem is that on the high fan setting it tends to vibrate so much that it slowly moves out of position on its own. I have to wedge it between two heavy books to keep it pointed at me, or turn the fan down.
The biggest problem is that it uses far more electricity than I would expect from such a small device. The first time I plugged it into a socket and after a couple of minutes (while it got hotter) the breaker switched off. I have a 200 amp service and I run all sorts of large, energy hungry appliances all the time with no trouble, yet this little thing managed to throw the breaker. I have since plugged it into a power surge protector so if it happens again only the surge protector will turn off.
So many problems, so why the 3 stars? Because I'd be a fool really to expect more from a $20 heater. I'm just thankful it doesn't overheat after 10 minutes and switch off on its own like the last heater I bought.
Customer Review: Great Little Heater but Still Uses a Lot of Electricity Summary: 4 Stars
I bought my first Lasko 754200 heater about a year ago, and it's still working great. In fact, I liked it so much that I bought two more for my house.
Here are my reasons for liking the heater:
1. It's very inexpensive. Look at the price on Amazon, and you'll see that it's very reasonable.
2. It has a lot of positive reviews on Amazon: I made sure of this before I bought my first one. These reviews contain a lot of good information on the heater.
3. It heats very quickly. It puts out a lot of heat and starts to do so almost immediately.
4. I find it's best for aiming it directly at me while I leave the rest of my study and master bedroom much colder. In this way, I can stay warm while saving energy. I've also found that it's great for the 2 of my kids bedrooms that get the coldest. Running it for a few minutes at night makes their rooms warm and comfortable enough for them to get to bed. Once they're asleep, I turn the heater off, and they don't mind the cold when they're sleeping.
There are a few down sides. First, when the heater is on, it does use a lot of energy (1500 watts on the high setting), and since we've bought a bigger, older, leakier, house we've become much more sensitive to our energy use. Second, it doesn't have the power to heat larger rooms very well, if that's your intention.
But used in its proper place, this is a durable, useful product that I recommend to you.
Customer Review: I love this heater!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this heater a little over a year ago. Now I have purchased a lot (A LOT) of items from Amazon over the years, but I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite, and most-used, products.
I'm one of those constantly cold people. I can wear layers, hats, whatever, and I'm still cold. So I wanted a little space heater to keep me warm - this totally fits the bill.
If you're looking for a space heater to heat up a large room, this probably isn't it. I'd recommend you go with a Vornado or something similar. This space heater gives you immediate warmth in a small area. Yes, over time this certainly would heat up an entire room, but it will take some time. Another reviewer likened it to a small fire, keeping you toasty when you're close to it, and I think that's a great description.
I've used this heater almost every day since I purchased it. The only days I haven't used it are days when I'm out of town! Every day I'm here, I use it (in fact, it's on right now)! So I can say with the utmost certainty that this heater is reliable! It's also fairly durable...I've moved it around the house and have dropped it from time to time and it still keeps working.
It terms of noise...I seem to remember thinking it a bit loud when I first got it, but now I have it on so often I don't even notice. Don't know if that's a good thing or not! :)
And to top it all off, it's dirt cheap. What more could you want?
Customer Review: ;o) Glad to be warm again...mm in Tallahassee Summary: 5 Stars
After more than 20 years of very good service, my small Lakewood heater thru sparks and caught fire. Lakewood is out of business, so this one could not be replaced.
For trustworthy shopping on good products, I always turn to Amazon.com. After much research on your products, I decided on the Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat. This heater really does put out a lot of heat on low setting for my whole living room. When the room begins to cool down, it comes back on very quietly for a few minutes and all is fine. Being old and cold natured, this heater is a blessing.
Most important, this small portable Lasko really heats up my bathroom fast so that I can shower and wash my hair. Getting naked in the cold would make daily ADL's impossible.
For 14 continuous days in January, we had record low temps below freezing (mostly in the teens) and everyone had to run their central heat a lot. Not me, my little heater took care of the living room and I was able to leave my thermostat on the central heat set at 52 degrees. My Feb. Talquin Electric Cooperative bill is $65.93 (regular is $36.53) which is o.k. as we have been way below normal for several weeks now. Without this wonderful space heater, my power bill would be much higher.
I hope and pray this Lasko 754200 last 20 or more years, if not, it was still very reasonable at $22.99.
