Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat

Customer Review: Awesome little space heater
Summary: 4 Stars

About a year before I bought this space heater, I had been going through Amazon, trying to find a heater for my fairly spacious room. That time around, I ended up trying an oil-filled radiator, which failed miserably to provide any heat to my room - I ended up sticking with my parabolic heater that year. Having moved to Seattle, the winters get even worse here than in the Bay Area, and my parabolic heater was too large to use in my smaller space. I decided to give the Lasko a shot, and to my delight, it worked wonderfully, heating up my bathroom incredibly quickly, and doing a fairly good job of heating up my living room (about 300 sq ft or so).

My only real complaint with this heater is that on the thermostat control, the first 1/4 or 1/3 or so of the dial is effectively useless - as far as I can tell, the heater will just shut off if you adjust the temperature too low. My guess is that if the heater is too hot, and unable to output heat at that much lower temperature setting, it just shuts off to cool down. And, also, used in small spaces (like bathrooms), this heater does put out a bit of noise, but not unbearably so.

Customer Review: Excellent Size/Power Ratio, Quiet, Inexpensive
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using these (various brands, models) tiny space heaters in my vacation 'shack' near the coast in central California for 10 years off and on. So far this one has been the absolute best among the 3 or 4 I've used over the years. When it arrived I was a little disappointed by the size, but once i plugged it in I was impressed with the heat it put off compared to the slightly larger models I used to own. It's pretty much better in every way: quieter, cheaper, smaller, sleeker-looking, and most importantly--warmer--than the other ones I've tried, mostly bought from big-box stores, etc.

The unit has two knobs. One controls "off/fan/900watt heat/1500 watt heat," and the other controls the 'thermostat'. Basically it makes the unit turn off for a period of time before turning on again. The thermostat seemed a bit flaky, and I never understood how they worked (in space heaters). But then again, they've all been flaky in my past experience.

Bottom line: if you're looking for a unit this small on the cheap, I would highly recommend it!! I try to use 5-star ratings sparingly, but this one deserves it.

Customer Review: PERFECTION!

I've gone through about 6 space heaters in the last 4 years. Some over heat, but the most annoying thing to me is when they make a clicking, clink kind of sound which keeps me awake!!!!

I opened the box, plugged in the Lasko 754200 and VOILA. It is AWESOME! I don't know what people are talking about it being loud for? I mean, it's not whisper quiet...but it's by no means loud. It lulls me to sleep, and it heats up our bedroom nicely on setting 1 !!! Don't even have to use setting 2 (the hottest). Our bedroom is huge too. It's the attic of our home which was converted into the master bedroom and it's about 60 x 12 !! I LOVE the cool setting on it too. It'll make for some comfy nights when summer arrives.

My cats were even basking in front of the heat that it was generating earlier today. It's stylish, and the buttons are easy to use.

NO complaints here, and most importantly, NO clicking, clinking noises!! I can sleep with this one one!!

For the price you CANNOT go wrong!!!

I am 150 % satisfied!!

THANKS LASKO and THANKS AMAZON!!

Customer Review: GREAT little heater!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Great heater!!! I just received this in the mail yesterday and started using it last night and have been today as well. So far it's been great! I'm using it to heat my living room which is fairly small, 10' by 13'. Barely any noise is produced by it:-) Also, it has a handle to move it around easier:-)

The only downside is that the thermostat doesn't work on mine. My boyfriend has an $80.00 Lasko Ceramic Heater and it's thermostat doesn't work either. Maybe it's just a Lasko issue? The thermostat not working is not an issue for me though. I don't mind turning down the heat or turning up the heat manually. Also, you have to unplug it to turn it off. Again, doing it manually is not an issue for me, but I can see how that would be an issue if it was plugged in in a hard to reach spot.

Overall, if you're looking to spend little but get a good amount of heat with minimal noise, this is a great heater. It's awesome for college students like me who live in small duplexes, houses, or apartments and don't have the money to spend on an expensive heater but want a good amount of heat to stay warm!:-)

Customer Review: No need to spend more. Tried a lot and this is as good as it gets.

I've tried several types of heaters and the ceramic heaters in general are by far the best, getting hot right away and blasting warm air into the room.

All the ceramic heaters seem to provide the same heat though regardless of size or price - they're all about 12 amps or 1500 watts, whether a $70 tower or just this little $23 product. Seems too small to heat a room, but it does quite well for rooms up to 130 square feet, assuming you've stopped the wind from getting into the room. My house is not insulated and it still works well as the only source of heat in weather down to about 10 degree F, below that or on very windy days, or in bigger rooms, I need a 2nd heater. If you plan to use more than 1 at a time, you will need to put them each on a different circuit since most circuits can only handle 15 or 20 amps and 2 of these will exceed that, tripping the breaker.

I highly recommend this and see no reason to spend more for styling and extra useless (or at least not worth the cost) features - you just want it to warm the room up, right?
