Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable ThermostatCustomer Review: This thing is awesome. 3rd year running strong. Summary: 5 Stars
For a small electric heater, this thing is awesome. It has done a great job for me for over 2 years. One other great thing is that you can sorta clean it without opening it. After unplugging it, I held it face up and sprayed into the front grate with air in a can, and the air pushed the globs of dust to the back part of the heater where I was able to take the dust out with a cue tip.
If you want to make your room more toasty during those cold winter nights, I strongly recommend this product.
In addition, I should note that the heater has a power '1' setting and a power '2' setting; the power '2' setting might give off a bit of a burning smell, but there is no reason to ever use the power '2' setting. The longevity of my heater might be attributed to the fact that I use setting '1' only. I'm willing to bet that some of the negative reviews indicating poor quality were a result of people using power setting '2'. I personally recommend not using the maximum setting on any electrical item: Fan, Air Conditioner, Heater, Refrigerator, etc.
Customer Review: nothing not to like Summary: 5 Stars
I got one of these last year because i wanted a strong heater in a small package, small footprint, to use in my bathroom, because the built in heater stopped working. It's perfect for heating a small room like that. Then i got another one for my bedroom, it's quiet, strong, and small, it fit into a small space near the bed. Then, i got a third one for the living room. The living room is a large room, and i use the heater like a small fire place, it really pumps out the heat. It's not going to heat the whole living room, but sitting next to it feels like sitting next to a small fire for warmth, very pleasant, not too hot when close to it, just a nice strong warmth. In the living room, the central heating doesn't do that well heating the lower part of the room on a cold night, the heat rises and it can be set on a high temperature and still be cold where we sit, so we use these heaters to warm up our space, nice source of heat, very portable, lightweight, sturdy. No complaints, it's perfect for what i use it for.
Customer Review: Saved us some money Summary: 5 Stars
Let's not be naive here - electrical heaters are going to cost money to operate, and one of these little heaters is not going to heat a 2,000 sq. foot home. However, we got four of these last winter and spent substantially less on heating our home than we used to with propane. Propane prices were getting pretty bad, and we had a year around plan where we spent the same amount on propane each month. Now that we don't use propane for heating anymore, we've been able to lower our monthly payments to nearly nothing (we still use propane for heating our water and drying our clothes). In the coldest winter months, we spend slightly more on electricity+propane per month than we used to, but we spend so much less the rest of the year that we've already saved hundreds of dollars in just the past year.
If you're getting sick of high fuel expenses for heating, these are worth a try. They paid for themselves in less than a year for us, and have been saving us money ever since.
Customer Review: Thermostat is adjustable--the fan speeds are not. Summary: 2 Stars
I use this in my office which is fairly small. On cold days the office temps can drop to 65 degrees. I put the heater under my counter-style desk to hold the heat closer to my feet. Even then I need to have the position of the heater balanced between my 2 feet in order to feel the heat on both feet. And its only about 6" from my toes. However, on the warmer days where the office temp is more like 67-69 degrees, then it seems to do a better job of heating the whole area under my desk. However, I'm greatly frustrated that I cannot tell any difference between the 1st & 2nd speeds on this fan. And like the other reviewers--I am frustrated that there is no real "turn-off" switch. Unlike the one guy who didn't mind pulling the plug out to turn it off, my office has very few outlets & I'd have to crawl under my desk to plug & unplug it in.
Oh well, it does keep me warmer, with a moderate amount of fan-noise which at times is frustrating when I interview my clients.
Customer Review: Great For a Small Room Summary: 5 Stars
This is a handy little heater that serves its intended purpose well - heating a small room. I use it to take the chill off my computer room which is not usually heated like the rest of the house since I'm not in there all that often. The unit itself is plastic with a metal grille, but it feels very sturdy and well made. The fan noise level is acceptable. It is far from silent, but is quiet enough that it doesn't interfere. The controls are straight-forward. One dial is the power dial which has 4 settings: Off - Fan - Low - High. The other dial is the thermostat with an infinite range of settings between - and +. (I've found that just below the halfway point is very comfortable, but then again, the winters in California aren't exactly subarctic)
I'd recommend this for anyone with a small area to heat. a bedroom, computer room, sewing room, etc. (mine's in a room about 12 foot square). I doubt it would efficiently heat a room that was too much larger.
