Tools and Hardware Reviews of Stanley High-Velocity Blower Fan, 655702

Customer Review: Excellent fan!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought one of these several years ago to use as a room fan and as a replacement for yet another in a long line of failed box fans. I have to say after my history since childhood with box fans that I've been utterly surprised at how long it has lasted and how sturdy it has been.

The sound is quieter and more constant than that of your standard box fan, and it seems to move a *lot* more air. Speaking of airflow, the directed airflow is very nice. If you like the air on you, you can set it on a night stand and direct it directly on your or just in the general area. The speed settings are convenient too, as having it that close and on high you can inflate your sheets and sleep in a bubble if you're not careful. I find the lowest setting is plenty for me.

I also take the fan with me when I'm on driving vacations. The fan fits nicely on hotel night stands and produces enough steady white noise that I blissfully don't hear a thing around me. In this area the long cord and dual plugs also really shine, as you can reach the outlet if it's hidden (old style motel rooms) and have convenient outlets on your nightstand for charging phones and whatnot.

Personally I've been totally sold on this style of fan now and don't see myself going back to the old box or round fan style anytime in the future. I haven't had much chance or need to try the other brands out there yet, but blowers are definitely where it's at for me now.

Customer Review: Surprize: Quiet, Powerful, and Useful
Summary: 5 Stars

As a smoker living in a basement apartment, I have ceiling level windows. I just burned out my 3rd 20" box fan in ten years mostly because I like fresh air and leave the fan(s) run 24/7. This little gem is powerful enough to exhaust a 14' X 24' living room during a small party with several smokers......and does so without drowning out conversation. On the low setting, it is pleasant white noise suitable for a bedroom window. As has been pointed out it's not a personal comfort fan to sit in front of, but does a whopping job of directing airflow onto a specific area, or for mounting in a small window to exhaust cooking fumes or smoke. I drove a small diameter screw thru one of the legs mounting it to a short piece of 1 X 10 shelfboard which is permenantly mounted to the window frame in such a way that the window can close if necessary during storms. I can easily remove the one screw which secures it if it needs to be used elsewhere (e.g. to dry shampooed carpet). I don't expect to ever need the built in duplex outlet but it's nice to know it's there....and conveniently located on the fan housing. A very good, very useful product worth the money. (I wouldn't worry about the overall construction being nylon/plastic unless you're in the habit of dropping things down the stairs.)

Customer Review: This is a great fan!
Summary: 5 Stars

Every once in a while a product comes out and I am simply amazed at how useful it is. I used this fan recently and I can say that this is a great design that is well constructed. Though using this as a room fan works fine (there are three speed settings that allow you to adjust the airflow - the highest speed moves A LOT of air), what makes this fan truly shine is its directional capabilities. The stream of air being pushed by this fan is pretty narrow (focusing the air movement just where you want it) and the up/down swiveling nature of the base means that this thing can be pointed at the exact spot where air is needed (like a wet spot on the carpeting, or your back as you stand at your workbench on a steamy summer evening). The grounded outlets are simply icing on the cake.

I have seen this fan for significantly less at other stores (Menard's), so shop around. Otherwise, I recommend this as a well designed, quality product!

Customer Review: Best fan ever experienced
Summary: 5 Stars

I came here to get a link for a friend, as I've been recommending this fan to everyone here in Southern CA. Its the best fan I've ever experienced, without question. I have a fantastic $100 fan with mister... it'll never be used again. This little demon of a fan will have your teeth chattering. There's no dead spot in the center due to rotating blades like most. It has a focused blast of very powerful (can set down to gentle, of course) cool air that feels 3-5x cooler than other fans' output. It is one of the best purchases I've ever made, and far far quieter than blade-fans. I would put the noise on par with the tower fans available. This sub-$50 fan will save you hundreds on your electricity bill (CA particularly). This is maybe my second ever review... I don't recommend many products at all. This is top of the list. Summary: bucket of awesome.

Customer Review: HELP HOW TO OPEN FAN TO FIX IT
Summary: 4 Stars

Tthis is a turbine style fan that moves significant air. It works very well, much better than blade based fans of the same or even larger sizes.

But in the end, dust and dirt will collect within this unit, considerably affecting performance.

This is in itself not a problem but opening it up, unfortunately is.

All housing is plastic, surrounding all screw holes, and the unit appears to be glued together, so opening it up is not at all easy.

There are screws on the handle and underside, but it still requires pulling apart--we broke this as we disassembled it.

We've been told the lasko model that is more powerful is easier to open but no confirmation on this. The heavy duty 120$ shop unit, as noted in a customer review, has the same problem as this one. VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN TO CLEAN.
