Customer Review: Not perfect but worth the investment.

Bought a 250oz Blue/Green Lava Lite a week or so ago (no, not "greem", green). Arrived packaged in an outer amazon.com shipping box, and I can see how other reviewers would have trouble with the lamp not remaining upright during shipping.
Takes a while (hour+) to warm up, and yer not supposed to run it for more than 8 hours, so you have to preplan your groovy scene a bit.
Was a bit cloudy when unboxed and is still slightly cloudy after 5 or so days, but nowhere near opaque as some reviewers have described. You can see your hand on the other side, so the fluid is more translucent more than transparent. Probably is also an aspect of the glass and the fluid. And about the glass, don't expect perfection. Lots of small flaws in the glass, bubbles, nicks, scuffs, but clean enough to find a side to display and not be too bothered by the imperfections in the glass. After all, the whole thing is pretty darn big, so the small flaws aren't as noticable.
Does a lot more than the smaller lava lamp I had, which was lazy and would just sort of make a lava tube that would sway back and forth and occasionally join the top and bottom of the flask. The grande lite does a bit of that, but also has spheres, blobs, and is surprisingly active. Make sure your room is cool enough for the lava at the top to sink back down (too warm and it would all just rise to the top and stay there), and cool enough for this behemoth.
No, it isn't heirloom quality, but hey, it really ties the room together, and the price is right, so why not?
