Tools and Hardware Reviews of Life Gear LL01Y LifeLightCustomer Review: The best in an emerncey!! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered two of these when Amazon had them on special and it had good reviews. I had to use these the very next day. A severe storm hit first knocking out the power. The light on this thing is amazing. It has two different settings to choose from. After awhile of the power not coming back, it's great that the lamp gives you the option of using a battery which I put in and then for the rest of the night till 1 in the am we where under a tornado watch, and I was able to keep the weather channel on to keep informed of all the changes. I am hoping to buy more and hand them out to friends and family. Also the radio has really good reception. I live in an area with so many trees I rarely can get a cell line. I can see using these for camping they are small, light and some what narrow and would hang easily on a branch without breaking it.
Customer Review: Not made with quality materials Summary: 3 Stars
I think that this product has many features that everyone would like, but it lack structural integrity. When I received mine and got it out of the box 3 peices on it broke and now the top won't stay on. It does not look like you can replace the LED lights once they go out, but LED last a long time and for $30 it can be replaced in 3-4 years. Not the brightest light out there but will provide the light you need. I was led to beleive that you received the car charger, and the cell phone hook-ups with the light...wrong!! If they made one with metal, or harder plastic and included the connectors I would buy 2 more. Unfortunately I missed the return by date on this so I will have to go out and buy some epoxy to keep this thing together.
Customer Review: Light Ok but questionable Phone Charging Cabaility Summary: 3 Stars
The light is decent for the price. But I bought this model to get its cell phone charging cabability also (which they say is free). However, to my surprise, you have to go online to order the 'exact' cell phone adapter (shipping and handling NOT included) for your EXACT cell phone model. And despite my having a common Nokia cell phone, none of their listed adapters would work. They said that they would do me the favor of letting me know (via email) if they ever come out with an adapter to fit my VERY COMMON Nokia cell phone. If I knew it was going to be this much trouble, I would have gotten a different crank LED lantern for the same price, but with better lighting capability.
Customer Review: Great Product! Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this product recently to take with me on camping trips. Overall, I am very satisfied with the brightness of the LED lights. On a recent trip to Joshua Tree, we used the LifeLight (in lantern mode) to illuminate our whole cooking setup. It's also good to know there are emergency flashers and a siren just in case anything goes wrong in the wilderness. I have relied only on AAA batteries to power the product to this point, although I did give the crank a try at home and it stayed lit for about 35 minutes or so.
I would definitely recommend this product!
Customer Review: Impressive! Summary: 5 Stars
I was so impressed with other LifeGear products, I thought I'd try this one out for a recent camping trip I went on. The great part about it is it doesn't need batteries, just wind the crank on the back for a couple minutes and you generate hours of light! Another cool thing about it is the built-in radio. You can even plug your iPod into it and the sound is pretty good. I like it much better than the traditional camping lanterns because you don't have to worry about remembering propane tanks or batteries.
