Customer Review: Insufficient Range / won't work more than 2 feet away

Bought this 2 weeks ago because another one I bought 2 weeks earlier did not have sufficient oomph to open the door. This one is about the same as the other defective one. My time is too valuable to seek a refund, my only recourse and benefit to others is to say that what I had seen written here by another party is not evidently true for everyone. I need this for a parking garage used by about 20 other cars. None of them have issues. This unit will not open the door unless it is within 2 feet of the receiver's antennae, which makes it thoroughly useless to me. It should open the door from at least 20 feet away...even 30, but doesn't even come close. Don't waste your money....I will buy from a local retailer now such as Home Depot as I can easily return stuff there.

The Linear Model 308911 1-Channel Visor Transmitter is a poratble transmitter designed for automatic door and gate operator applications manufactured by Linear only(Not for Sears, Liftmaster, Chamberlain,Genie). This transmitter is a single-channel device, pressing the pushbutton will send a signal to the receiver. The transmitter has a red test/operate indicator and is powered by a 9-volt battery. The transmitter is Multi-Code format with one 10-position coding switch providing 1,024 possible codes. The transmitter will only activate receivers set with the same code. The Model 308911 is compatible with 300 MHz Multi-Code receivers and Linear Model 109950 and 302850 receivers. A visor clip is included.Tracks & Rollers Tools
