Customer Review: Logman tenon cutter

Works great, was making furniture 1/2 hour after opening the box and starting assembly. I mounted it on a length of 2x8 board which I then clamped in a Stanley portable workbench Stanley 93-292 FatMax Mobile Project Center 33-Inch Tall Clamping Work Bench and Hand Truck with wheels. Now, the whole rig rolls easily out to my driveway so I don't bury the garage with wood chips when I use it. When done, I fold the bench with router and Logman kit all in place and stow it inside.
The only weak point I see are some of the setup and use instructions, but common sense and trial and error can make up for it. One hint I maybe missed in their instructions: to start a piece well and get a good, on-center tenon, they say to first taper the edges of the log, but they don't suggest how. I found it fast and easy to hold the log against the router bit in the Logman, at about 30-45 degrees above horizontal and rotate it a few times, WITHOUT trying to feed it forward through the Logman.

The Logman Tenon Maker is designed to produce tenons quickly and accurately. The unit consists of a router and a carbide cutter for wood removal, a wood guide for centering the tenon and keeping the tenon to a uniform diameter, and a base for clamping the tenon maker to a workbench providing a secure, vibration free unit.
