I've been using these for a month or two now. They are wonderful for lamps that are hard to reach or have broken switches. I didn't buy them with the intention of using the dimmer feature, just a way to turn broken and hard-to-reach lamps on and off, but have ended up using the dimmer on one of them quite regularly. It's very nice for reading in bed, since you can adjust your light to be just enough for reading, but not so much that it keeps you from getting sleepy. It's always slightly alarming when you touch one of the switches and feel how warm it gets, but the instructions said that it is normal.Customer Review: Goes great with a Lava Lamp

I just ordered three more of these - I'd given my neice and nephew Lava Lamps as I'd been enjoying mine so much, but I wanted to give them these to go with the lamps, as if you've ever seen a Lava Lamp that's been on for a while - it gets hot and all the 'goo' floats to the top. However, with the dimmer switches, you plug the Lava Lamp into one of these, then you can control how hot the lamp gets. The sweet spot is just hot enough for a single glob to float right in the middle of the lamp - ahh, serenity...Amazon sells the Lava Lamps, too...with free shipping on an 'over $25 total' order.Customer Review: Smooth dimmer with click off position

The only down side if you want this behind furniture is that your lamp plugs directly into the back of this plug. So it extends far out from the outlet. Would have been nice if angled to the side or something. Other than that. It's super smooth for the whole range of dimming. And it clicks into the bottom off position. Which is bad if you are looking for the ability to leave the dimmer in a specific position while maintaining a switch. If you need that, you will have to use the switch on the lamp itself. This product worked great for me and I have no complaints so I give it 5 stars.Customer Review: Good buy

This is a great price for an item that works just as it describes. I used it on standard Christmas lights, and it works great. They can dim all the way down to the point where there is just a dull glow of the filament. The only issue it has is when you move the dim bar from off to on, it doesn't turn the light on until a certain level has been reached. After that you can dim it wherever you want, but it just won't turn on to anything lower than a certain point until it has reached that point initially. A great dimmer switch. Very simple to install an works extremely well. My wife has now used it for several months many times a day and she is very happy with the ease of use. The dimmer has very smooth and safe operation.
The only downside is that the switch emits an very low level RF signal that interferes with her radio when it is within an a few inches of the radio.The fix is simple...move the switch away from the radio.
I would highly recommend the Lutron Electronic Plug-in Lamp Dimmer Switch...great product.
