Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lux Products TX1500E-010 Smart Temp Programmable ThermostatCustomer Review: Easy to Install Summary: 4 Stars
This was my first crack at installing a thermostat, so I really didn't know what to expect. My wiring system had 4 wires and they corresponded directly to the wiring diagram. I purposefully bought a system without a lot of bells and whistles because I know my weakness in home repairs; electricity. Anyway, this was a no-brainer and from what I can tell will save a lot of wasted money in energy costs. My research has told me that installing one of these programmable thermostats is usually the number one way of saving the most for the least amount of investment. In terms of brand names, Lux did very well in online comparisons, so I went with it. So far no regrets other than I can't seem to reset the counter on how many days left before it is necessary to change the air filter.
Customer Review: Works fine, mostly positive features only 2 negative (for me) Summary: 4 Stars
It works well and keeps a nice steady temperature. Would like to be able to see
the current setting or target temperature without having to push the button, but that is only a mild irration. To solve the other problem (difficulty seeing the
display) is solved by having it mounted at eye level or slightly below. My husband and I were trying to learn how to set features (side by side). He had no problem following the instructions, but I could not see any display. We finally solved the mystery....you can't read the display from below. The angle I was viewing from (below) made it impossible the read the display. Work of advice, place your unit at eye level or below so you can look directly at or it or slightly down. Enjoy this unit, I do.
Customer Review: Excellent value, excellent product, SAVES TONS OF $$$ Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent. Works great! Installed this in about 15 minutes with absolutely ZERO experience with thermostats nor any kind of electrical type installations. I could've just tossed the instructions and installed it with nothing. The installation is very intuitive, with wire labels that show which wire goes where. I love the thermostat and it let's me turn off the heat while I'm sleeping and turn back on for about an hour or so when I wake up, then turns back off while I'm at work. This thing has paid for itself 10x over already!! I definitely recommend this unit, but if not then absolutely recommend a programmable thermostat. You will save yourself TONS of $$$. What are you waiting for? Don't you like money? Go buy a programmable thermostat!!
Customer Review: Does the job, helpful customer service Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this digital thermostat to replace an antiquated round dial we had on the wall. The calibration on the old one was way off and, obviously, it could only hold the same temperature all day. This model is your typical 5-1-1, highly rated by Consumer Report, easy to operate and program.
I had to call customer support because the terminals in the old thermostat were not labeled and I could not figure out how to connect the wires to the new thermostat (had the terminals been labeled on the old one, I could have used the scheme in the enclosed manual). Customer support returned my call in 24 hours, as promised, and answered all my questions.
It works perfectly. I cannot think of anything they could have done better.
Customer Review: Hangs when set on hold below 60 degrees Summary: 3 Stars
I have had this thermostat for two years and it has a mystery bug somewhere. It is installed in a vacation home. We only use the hold setting and when at the house in winter it is set on hold at 64 degrees and works without a hitch. When we leave, set it on hold at 56 degrees. Seems the thermostat calls for heat but the furnace does not turn on. This has happened three times in the past two years it has hung up. I had to drive back down to the house to reset it. Funny, never happens when we are at the house when thermostat is set above 60 degrees. Called tech support and they said replace the batteries and reset it. I did and this did not solve the problem. It is not reliable, at least the one we have. Does anyone else have this problem?
