Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lux Products TX1500E-010 Smart Temp Programmable ThermostatCustomer Review: dial switch is absolutely terrible Summary: 1 Stars
Bought 2 of them about 8 years ago to replace manual Honeywells.
Dial switch (big round thing on the left) stopped working properly after 2 years - just doesn't fix itself in a proper position. On both units!
Since there is no daylight time adjustment button (or something like that), twice a year a have a pleasant task of trying to set dial switch in a position where it would allow me to set time. Normally it's 1/4" before time mark, but just try catching it there!
Are those things supposed to last for couple years? Good old Honeywells worked for almoust 20 years before I decided to get fancy and replaced them with this junk.
Customer Review: Easy Programming & Works Fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this thermostat after researching several models on-line and for the money it is a great buy. I have had a bad experience prior to this one with a "Hunter" thermostat that I purchased for my previous home that was overbearing with the touch screen & settings making it a chore to program. This unit has a dial that you simply rotate and place your 4 start/temp variations for the 5 day week and another for the weekend. It looks very clean on the wall and was about the same dimension as my old thermostat.
Overall I am very please and would highly recommend this unit for your home...
Customer Review: Lux TX1500E Smart Temp Prog. Thermostat Summary: 3 Stars
We ordered this thermostat because we had a good experience with the Lux brand in two previous homes, and the Hunter brand we tried first was nearly impossible to program. However, the Smart Temp feature on this Lux thermostat makes it almost impossible to override the pre-programmed settings to to what WE want. Consequently, we are fiddling with the thermostat settings more, rather than less, with the new model. If the Energy Star features on this thermostat are a harbinger of things to come, i.e., Big Brother is mandating where to set our thermostats, heaven help us!
Customer Review: One really big glitch Summary: 1 Stars
I've had two of these installed in my 3 story townhouse for about 2 years. I came home recently after a weekend away to find the temperature in my house at 59 degrees F. The problem is that the thermostat was set to shut off at 81 degrees. It's summer, the temp outside was in the high 80's so apparently the A/C had been running the whole weekend, turning my house into a refrigerator. I can't wait to get this bill. I'm going to replace them now, I can't trust these thermostats. It's a shame, I like the way they look and how they operate when they are working correctly.
Customer Review: A Happy Camper!! Summary: 5 Stars
As this is a replacement of an older thermostat [over 10 yrs. old] I called the mfg. [Lux] for their recomendation for a replacment. They advised this model, saying even the mtg. holes would align.
Upon receipt, I replaced wire for wire per instructions, yes the mtg. holes worked. Turned on my AC - everything worked as advertised. I would buy from them again, and would highly recommend them, as they were very helpful, and more importantly - they were honest!!
It saved me a service call to the AC repair man to replace the thermostat. Good luck!! Waltman 01
