I bought this based off a good review in Consumer Reports. We weren't sure if we'd be smart enough to install it, but after viewing some YouTube videos felt confident that we wouldn't destroy anything by trying. The installation was pretty easy (after we figured out which breaker to turn off), and we had it installed and programmed to our specifications within about thirty minutes. This is an excellent product that I would buy again.Customer Review: Beware of the wallplate.

Please beware that the wallplate that Amazon lists above in the "frequently purchased together" section is the wrong wallplate. I just got off the phone with Lux and there is no wallplate made for this thermostat. The wallplate listed above is for the touchscreen model. I ordered it assuming Amazon listed it because it fit this thermostat. Well it is too big.
Other than that the thermostat is great.

Does exactly what I was expecting it to do. This is in a room/zone which isn't always occupied so it is nice to have the special program mode. I can use it to set back the temperature for a set number of days, and you could also use it to do the reverse.
Installation instructions were great, but it seems like nobody in this industry has heard of standards so take careful notes on your existing wiring!

It only took about 45 minutes to install and test. For the price, it's a very good thermostat. My old programmable thermostat listed the hours of use for the day, week and prior week. The hour counter also gave a reminder to change the furnace filter after a programmable number of hours on the fan (this one just counts days) I miss that feature but don't think you could do better at the price-point of this one.Customer Review: Outstanding thermostat

Finally upgraded from a Honeywell round thermostat, which was always sufficient. But our schedule has become more fragmented and it's great to have the thermostat jump back to the original program even if we override the current setting while we're at home. Wish I'd done this years ago. I actually like this thermostat better than the Carrier thermostats that came with my new house. I may switch them out :):)
