Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet ThermostatCustomer Review: Well regulated heat Summary: 5 Stars
Our 50's style ranch has a 4 degree temperature varience from one end to the other, and of course the cold side is where the kids bedrooms are. With this thermostat on space heaters in their rooms they can be warm enough at night and comfortable during the day. It's helped us reclaim those rooms as a useful part of the house by not behind the heat curve by turning on the heater when we want to use the rooms and waiting for it to be the right temperature. The programming was easy, just like the house thermostat.
Customer Review: Why hasn't someone done this before? Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for use in my garage workshop, to control a small gas wall furnace/space heater. The heater has its own thermostat, but it's not programmable and it's terribly inaccurate, prone to wide fluxuations in temperature. This device does a lovely job of keeping the shop comfortable when I expect to be there while letting the place cool off at night to save energy. It's lovely, and such a simple idea that I wonder who no other thermostat manufacturer seems to offer an equivalent product.
Customer Review: Simply works! Summary: 4 Stars
This thermostat works! I use it for simply keeping my bedroom comfortable at night with a space heater. The trick is placing this thermostat in a place that it will be most affective. I did this by using extention cords so that the thermostat is on my dresser. I found that when I just plugged the thermostat into the wall socket, it was placed too low and therefore read the temperature on the ground. Once I raised it to my dresser, it worked like a charm. Hope this helps.
Customer Review: Works suprisingly well Summary: 5 Stars
It was exactly what I was looking for - something to make sure it didn't get too cold in my baby's room at night. I hooked it up to a steam humidifier (could do space heater, too) and it worked surprisingly well. The only other option would have been to keep the whole house at a certain temperature (expensive) or use a timer (a crapshoot). If you keep the temperature probe away from walls and windows (which may stay colder than the room air), it works very well.
Customer Review: Failed quickly Summary: 1 Stars
The device seems extremely sensitive to heat. My application is to have a fan switched on when the temperature exceeds a certain point. Unfortunately, the temperature continues to rise, and may (in a perfect storm) exceed 130F. The thermostat failed; fair enough: that exceeds the specs, but I'd hoped that since I didn't want anything fancy to happen in those elevated temperatures -- just hang in there until the temperature dropped -- it would do the job. Oh well.
