Customer Review: Good idea for a product

This LUX product has the same features as the LUX thermostat for out home furnace, which has worked fine for years. It has the same 4 periods per day that can be set to different temperatures as well as weekends that can also be different. Also the 4 periods per day can be whenever you want. This is a good idea for a product. Most space heaters have poor thermostatic controls, so just leaving the heater on and having it controlled through this product would be far more accurate. (NOTE: Won't work with a digital controlled heater that would not come on if you unplugged it then plugged it back in....which is basically what this does.) We use it to run an "Eco-heater" in baby's room to keep it at exactly 70 degrees at night so we can turn off the furnace at night. I set the day periods to be at the lowest possible temperature, which essentially keeps the heater off during the day. I never have to touch it. Good price too.

I had purchased a room heater (quartz rod type) which had a conventional bimetallic strip thermostat. The patent for this type of thermostat dates back to the 19th century, and was cycling on and off in an erratic manner when running. I opened it and rewired the circuit to bypass the bimetallic and simply plugged the line for the heater into the WIN100 which plugged into the 120v AC house circuit. After programming the WIN100, I just turn the main on-off power switch on the heater and the WIN100 controls the temperature by cycling the power on and off. If I want to shut the unit off, I just turn the unit power off and let the WIN 100 call as usual. When heat is needed, I turn the heater power on, and the WIN100 continues to call for power to the heater which is set to power on. No biggie in logic, and a simple modification. I personally believe bimetallic thermostats are a hazard and should be taken off the market.Customer Review: buy it

I had to edit this review since the thermostat broke, the unit does not turn off. After resetting it works as it should through one cycle then fails to shut the appliance off, good thing I checked, cost me a fortune in electricity though. All I wanted was a simple cooling, line voltage thermostat for a greenhouse, I got this for about the same price. It comes loaded with features, it will make you wish you got more, unless it fails to work. You can roughly set the offset temperature too which adds to the versatility of the thermostat, this too does not work as it should, would be good if it did. I can now buy a large inexpensive space heater and set it to heat whenever I want without having to touch it, in theory. It has been two months since got it, I noticed the problem, tried to fix it by setting and resetting the unit, now it is too late to return it. Amazon won't seem to take it back. This Thermostat works very well. It is easy to operate and set. It is good for controlling the temperature in one room of the house. I hate to wake up at night in bed shivering. With this thermostat and a small heater, I have the same temperature all night. I sleep better. I set the thermostat timer so that I will only turn on a half hour before I go to bed and will not go on after I wake up in the morning. I can set this thermostat to keep the temperature from varying more than only plus or minus one degree or it can be set to allow the temperature to go plus or minus 2, 3 or 4 degrees. Their is no heater that has a thermostat that works as good as this. Thermostats do not work good when they are attached to the heater or air conditioner. If your heater or air conditioner uses less than 15 amps, it can be switched on and off with this thermostat.
I love it. I sleep better and it saves money and energy.

I'm caring for a friend who is in really bad shape healthwise, almost totally bedridden. My wife and I invited him to come live with us so I could care for him. He's in need of someone to even fix his meals for him. He came to live with us in October. The first real cold snap of the year caught me by surprise and I didn't have the heater on. He got very cold that night, and it had a very detrimental effect on his fragile health. This same thing happened a few more times (to a lesser degree) before we purchased this plugin thermostat for use with a room heater for him. It has been FANTASTIC!!! I can't say enough how helpful this item has been. After buying it, whenever I would walk into his room during the winter, his room was never too hot or cold after that, always just right. This has been an excellent quality item, and extremely helpful! Blessings on everyone involved in making it available.
