Tools and Hardware Reviews of Kamenstein 4536 Perfect Tear Paper Towel Holder, Stainless SteelCustomer Review: Great towel holder! Summary: 5 Stars
This paper towel holder is a great addition to our kitchen. The weight of the holder and rubber feet keep it in place on the counter when pulling on the towels. If you use a slight downward pulling action, the towels will tear at the perferations perfectly every time. I would highly recommend this holder to anyone needing an upright paper towel holder.
I have used this paper towel holder for 1 1/2 years. The only problem I've had is you need to clean the rubber feet occasionally with alcohol to keep the holder from sliding on the counter top.
Customer Review: Rachet failure is a common problem Summary: 1 Stars
I, too, really like the design and concept of the Kamenstein Paper Towel Holder. Unfortunately, after about a year the ratchet has stopped working - an all too common problem it seems. At least my Towel Holder has not jammed, but it now takes two hands to dispense the towels. There does not appear to be any way to disassemble my unit. It seems to be riveted together. Also, I find it very frustrating that I've been unable to find any manufacturer contact information. I wouldn't buy this item again since it would most likely fail in a year or less.
Customer Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 4 Stars
Great paper towel holder. This is the first paper towel holder that advertises one-handed towel tear off that actually works! The only thing that would make it perfect would be to spring load the little rod that holds the free end of the paper towel so that it holds the loose end of the roll up against the roll.
However, Everything else is great. It doesn't slide on the counter. The rolls fit on without unscrewing anything. Nice brushed stainless finish. The ratchet system lets you easily tear of a single towel with one hand.
Customer Review: It Just Works Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not a mechanical engineer, a physicist, nor do I sell paper products. I just have to say that this thing works. After buying several generic type holders over the years, which were always more of a pain, we found this one while walking the aisles at the Costco. It's weighted base keeps it in place while tearing off a sheet and the roll doesn't unravel. It's been about a month and so far, so good. Crossing my fingers that something inside doesn't snap and causes the roll to free wheel. Completely happy so far.
Customer Review: Looks nice, broke immediately Summary: 1 Stars
Out of the box this item matched our kitchen perfectly. We were instantly impressed with the one hand tear feature and the amazing clicking sound. However after less than 48 hours the clicking was no more and the paper towels spin like a whirling dirvish.
I would not recommend this to anyone and worse yet there is no way to contact the seller to request a replacement or a repair for the cheap click wheel inside the unit.
I suggest you look elsewhere and don't purchase this item.
