Tools and Hardware Reviews of MAGLITE S2C016 2-C Battery Flashlight, BlackCustomer Review: Most reliable flashlight Summary: 5 StarsI have had mine for years and it has never let me down. It does not use up batteries as fast as other flashlights too. It has a very solid body, so it doubles as a defensive weapon. I have one in my car and one at home. I also have 2 4D cell LED Maglites for times when I need to walk around the neighborhood.
Customer Review: Nice big Maglite Summary: 5 StarsBuilt solid and is super-bright. I tested it at night and it lights up the whole downstairs from our landing as if it were daytime. The back of the light sets comfortably on your shoulder while holding it with one hand at shoulder height facing forward - it's big. Only downside is that it doesn't come with the batteries, so count on another 6+ dollars.
Customer Review: Great light! Summary: 5 StarsGreat light and deterent. Late night walks to the bathroom while camping will be less nerve racking.
Customer Review: Maglite for Safety! Summary: 5 StarsThere are smaller and brighter lights out there, as some reviewers have noted. But there is one application that the 4 cell Maglite is good for, and in fact, is made for.
By replacing the standard bulb that comes with the Maglite with the 3 watt LED upgrade (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GL95IQ)you get the ultimate and in almost all cases legal weapon for keeping in your car for deterring and dealing with attackers. The super bright 3 watts of power effectively blinds attackers and by itself is an effective deterrent. But in addition, the big, heavy, rugged, metal body of the Maglite itself makes a great night stick, as cops have known for years.
The proper hold is to grasp the light while holding your arm straight down so that the light points to the rear. Then raise your arm so the light is above or resting on your shoulder and pointing ahead of you, keeping a finger on the switch to turn it on and off. Held this way you can aim the light easily towards attackers faces, and if needed, a simple and quick flick of the wrist will crack them with the back of the light.
I keep one in in each of my cars for my wife and daughters, and gave an extra one to my daughter who lives alone in the city. She loves it for checking out things that go bump in the night. She says it lights up the backyard or hallway like daylight. And I have several cop friends who have bought one based upon using mine.
Customer Review: You can take it anywhere Summary: 5 StarsThis is nice to keep in the car, both as a light, and also it has a secondary use. And you can take it anywhere- it's not a weapon, it's a flashlight!
