Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mag-Lite ST3D016 3-D Cell LED Flashlight, Black

Customer Review: Nite Ize 2-6 cell LED LRB-07-PR vs. OE MagLite LED
Summary: 5 Stars

Very bright. Much brighter than my original Maglite. Bought in a combo pack at C**co with the AA LED light which is also amazing. These are a great deal even separately at $24 & $10. The bulbs cost that much to convert! I bought cheap $10 conversion LED bulbs at HFT (Nite Ize LRB-07-PR). I put these in my old Maglites. These cheapest LED bulbs are about as bright as the OE but much whiter. They are not near as bright as the OE product here however. I bought the cheaper ones so you can have a lower power that will last much longer (about one day per D cell!) in emergency long term use.

Customer Review: Awesome flashlight
Summary: 5 Stars

The 3d LED has the best value for a flashlight that I've ever purchased. I can make out people and moving objects that are 120 yards across a field in the tree line. It's obscenely bright in close quarters and it makes my dorm room look brighter than it is in the daytime. When I took this light to New York City some friends and i attempted to make a batman beacon out of some cardboard (to shine the light through) but unfortunately we could not cut out a small enough shape. Otherwise it would have worked as this flashlight was able to put light on buildings that were a block away.

Customer Review: Good construction, so so LED, so so light quality
Summary: 3 Stars

Got this at Costco as a combo pack together with the 2-AA one.

Pros: Very good construction quality, typical of a Mag Lite.

Cons: I wish they have used a better LED like Cree or Luxeon. Even though rated at 3w, the light output is rather on the weak side. My 3-AAA 3w Dorcy oushone it, and the 120-lumens, 6w, 6-AAA beat it to a pulp. At the narrowest spot setting, the beam is almost as bright as the 3w Dorcy, but illuminated a much smaller area. Flooded it to a wider area to match the Dorcy's, its brightness became quite lower than the 3w Dorcy.

Customer Review: MAGLITE ST 3DO16 (Update)
Summary: 2 Stars

Very poor grounding system; does not work "first time, every time", requires some adjustments to get light to come on and then it may go off while in use. Not the reliable old Maglite; don't bet your life on this one. By former law enforcement officer.

March 31, 2010 - After some adjustments and some "Wearing in" I love the light ! I now believe it's even better than the older bulb models, and yes, I am now "betting my life" on it when things go boom.

Customer Review: Best Flashlight I have ever used
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tried a lot of other Flashlights. I never spend over $40 so I dont know about the super high end ones.
This will light up a tree down the street.
The focus is way better than the Duracell and the button on the Duracell is in an unusable place.
The button is in the right place to quickly turn on and off the light with one hand while pointing in the right direction.
It is very very bright and comfortable.
