Tools and Hardware Reviews of Magcraft NSN0573 3/8-Inch by 1/8-Inch Rare Earth Disc Magnets, 30-CountCustomer Review: good fridge magnets Summary: 5 Stars
I had this great idea to use these to make some custom fridge magnets. I bought some wooden cabinet pulls from walmart for 2 for $2. I drilled holes on the bottom using 3/8" titanium drill bits. then i used gel epoxy to glue them to the pulls. the only reason i used the gel kind was because it said it withstood impacts better. I covered the magnet pulls with wood conditioner and gloss polyurethane. they look good and are very strong. I was worried that it would be too strong, but obviously some people here exaggerate how strong these magnet are. they are strong but cmon, i am not a strong guy and it took only moderate twisting to pry these apart from the other magnets. and the force on the fridge is pretty much what i should have expected. also not sure why some are getting their magnets in plastic tiny ziplock bags but mine came in the round plastic container shown in the photo. overall these are a great deal for size, strength and you get a 30 count. much better deal than at brick and mortar stores.
p.s. although the magent diy turned out good, i later realize walmart sells some decent magnets in their office section. they are less strong than these but not by a huge amount plus they are metal and have clips. still dont regret this purchase though, these will be handy for other things that I will eventually find uses for.
