Tools and Hardware Reviews of Magcraft NSN0607 1/2-Inch Rare Earth Cube Magnets, 4-CountCustomer Review: NOT FOR KIDS!!!! bruised a 28 year old! Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this item for a "special" 4th grader who is on a "points system" (he gets rewards for certain number of desired behaviors). He loves magnets and has enjoyed similar magnets. I was drawn in by the "super strength" of these magnets. Well, they weren't lying. I was giving them a test run by putting them on either side of my hand to see if they would still attract one another and they snapped around the side of my hand, sandwiching a tiny bit of my skin in between them. It took a few moments to get them apart, and its been almost a week and i still have blood pooled under my skin and a magnet-length bruise left as proof of their strength. Needless to say i DID NOT give them to my kid. If it made financial sense, i would attempt to send them back, seeing as i have no use for them.
Customer Review: Very strong magnets Summary: 5 Stars
These magnets are as amazing as everyone says. It is extremely difficult to separate two of them. Not everyone can do it. They're great for fascinating the kids. I've have them for at least a couple weeks, and my 10-year-old son was playing with them yesterday. He had one under our two-inch thick wood table and one on top, and he was moving the one on top around (really). They're great for holding thick objects on the fridge, and they're not as hard to pull of the fridge as they are to separate from each other. The force will amaze you, and we have had blood blisters from a person getting them too close and having them snap together. Mine have been played with extensively, and there's only a couple chips, so they're not that brittle.
Customer Review: Awesomeness in a box Summary: 5 Stars
These things are great. It's not often you can get sheer awesomeness in a box, but these guys sure come close. Very powerful (I've got lots of stuff on my fridge - Christmas cards and stuff like that - and I've got a couple of these holding stacks of paper like a quarter inch thick to the fridge with no problem), very cool. A bit hard to take apart, especially with greasy fingers. And they might be a bit strong for some people. For instance, some female friends of mine had some real difficulty being able to separate them. But that's the sort of strength I wanted and that's what these things deliver. Totally sweet. Highly recommended. Just don't put them anywhere close to your computer if you like your data.
Customer Review: Ridiculously strong!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I just got them in the mail a couple of hours ago and I can attest to their strength! I'm a 30 y.o. male in good physical condition and even for me is not easy to separate two of these suckers when they get together.
I have a little Day-Timer month organizer that's 5"x3" and over 40 pages and just one of these magnets can hold it against my metal board without a problem!
Highly recommend them to anyone. They're also very fun to work with.
Just as a note, they are cubed but not 100% perfectly shaped. If you're wanting these for some highly technical and sensitive experiments these are not for you, but they're also not intended to be.
Customer Review: Ridiculous strong Summary: 5 Stars
Like other reviewers have said, these are ridiculous strong. A little scary perhaps. And yes, within about 4 minutes of playing with them, I did chip off part of one by snapping the magnets together.
I've used them to attach to fabric-covered cubicle walls, and they are still really hard to pull off. Even in the package they come in, you can affix paperclips to the side of the plastic tube. That's a good half-inch of space between the magnets and the outside of the packaging. A previous reviewer that suggested using these as a stud finder was right on, I had magnets sticking all over the walls.
