Customer Review: It doesn't work, most of the time.

I had great hopes for this contraption after I injured my knee and wanted to avoid unnecessary trips to the mailbox. First, you have to have a very, very tiny Phillips screwdriver to open the battery cover to the transmitter to install the included battery, and although I had one I would bet that most people do not own one. I installed both batteries that came with the device and it seemed to work, inside. Then I installed the transmitter on my mailbox and of course I mounted it upside down since the little "up" arrow is very hard to see. I finally got it right but found that it only worked once in a rare while. I called the manufacturer, who advised me to replace all the batteries. The little battery for the transmitter was hard to track down, but I finally found one. Then a little bit of plastic under the hole for that little phillips screw broke and the screw no longer held the battery cover in place properly and the device would no longer work. I did try duct tape, but that won't keep the cover closed well enough.
I give up. A better design on the transmitter's battery case cover would be a help. It shouldn't break after just one battery replacement. An extra piece of double sided mounting tape and an easier to see arrow would help, too.
