Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mark Feldstein VL8 Charging Valet, Satin BlackCustomer Review: Mixed review, please read before purchasing. Summary: 3 Stars
As the other reviews state, there were some construction quality issues. When I was removing it from the box the pull out drawer fell apart. Gluing it back together was pretty simple, but the slot had a drawer catch so i couldn't insert the repaired drawer. After struggling with it for an hour my husband thought to saw off the dowel that served as the drawer catch. The rest of the unit is sturdy. Also the 4 outlet power stip only fits 2 cell phone chargers at a time. I don't regret purchasing this item as the price was fair and I was aware from the other reviews that I might encounter these problems. Overall, we like it. We only have two phones anyways and after repairing the drawer there haven't been any other problems. I know someone else stated it looked like cheap plastic but it is wood and looks very nice.
Customer Review: Good looking but compartments are a little narrow Summary: 4 Stars
The charging valet in black looks good in our bedroom which has black furniture. My husband keeps his change and other small items in the top horizontal compartment and the drawer and it really declutters our dresser. We charge both our phones using the charger but have found the charging compartments are a tight fit for our phones that have the charging plug in the side, not at the bottom. The power strip can only take our 2 phone chargers due to the bulkiness of them which is a waste of a 3 plug power strip. Still - we needed to declutter the dresser and it does the job. The price is very good for this unit. I am happy with it.
Customer Review: Charging Valet Mark Feldstein Summary: 2 Stars
I originally bought this item in Macy's for a gift only to find scratches in the black surface. I returned to Macy's and bought one from Amazon. There were even more scratches which are white on the black surface. The overall surface qualtiy is very poor. I kept the unit and covered the white scratchs with black permenent marker. The valet is a useful device, but Mark Feldstein has a lot to learn about product quality, even though the unit was packed well.
Customer Review: Nice valet Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this for about two years now and am really happy with it. The small drawer is big enough to keep the essentials but not so big that it gets unorganized. I keep this on my dresser and it's where my wife and I charge our iPhones. I use the top tray to dump my pockets at night (pen, penknife, wallet, cuff links, collar stays, etc).
This is a great way to keep things accessible without having your dresser look cluttered or disorganized.
Customer Review: Looks more substantial than it really is. Summary: 3 Stars
Functionally, its a 5 star product. It does its job, stowing your electronics and misc. stuff all in one place with the wires out of the way. However, certain things about it don't exactly scream quality. The housing is fine, but the top paneling pieces are really thin and cheap feeling. Also, if you have a large plug (like some cell phone chargers have) it will prevent you from getting everything plugged into the built in surge protector.
