I've now gone through three of these poorly made locks, and each one rapidly became first difficult and then impossible to use. If it's locked you won't be able to unlock it, and if it's unlocked you won't be able to lock it. I've used them to secure a bike shed, and bought them only because they have easy-to-see numbers and are readily available in hardware stores.
I'm finished with this cheesy product, and will pay more for a lock that actually works.

I'm not really concerned with having something I can spell a loved ones name with. All I need is something I can set a combination to, lock, and if I'm lucky, remember it later and retrieve my stuff from the gym locker. Unfortunately this one seems to stick a lot and I'm afraid it'll eventually stop opening. Not very confidence boosting, so I'm going to be searching for a replacement to start using in case my premonition of this one is correct.Customer Review: Just ordered 2 more...

These are a great idea. I have one on my front and back gates. If I change my pool guy or garden service or.... I just reset the combination. Have had these for over a year and ordered another 2 last week. They have performed flawlessly. I wouldn't use these to protect the family jewels but it will be more difficult to break off the plastic combination tabs than to just use lock clippers if someone is determined to break in. I agree with the last review. I bought it to keep the kids out of the chicken house. This lock falls apart easily and can change to a combination you don't know. This happened twice in the first few times. The idea that you can set your own word combination is appealing but the pitfalls far outweigh this one benefit.Customer Review: Master Lock

I don't like this lock as much as I did the previous version using 4 digit numbers. This lock uses 5 digits of numbers and letters that you set. Getting all 5 digits to stay lined up in order to open the lock is not always easy. This lock is just o.k. to me because of the sometime difficultness of opening the lock.
