Customer Review: Broke when I tried to set combination. Requires a key to reset!

This is a terrible product. Unlike almost every other "set-your-own" combination lock out there, you cannot just depress the shackle and set your combination. You have to have the "reset key" that comes with the lock (it is the same key for all of them). Like I need some tiny key to have to keep track of in my life! Also, when I tried to set the combination with the key, some mechanism inside broke, and I was never able to set my combination.Customer Review: Great deal, and works very well

We bought two of these to put on the out side barns; you can enter your own code which is much easier to remember, and coded both with the same code. We would invariably be working outside and have to run into the house to get the keys for the old lock. We have look all over for a lock to be used outside and combination on the bottom. I've used many of these locks on gates around the farm but they usually don't work well for long. The last one started being difficult to open and close after about 1 year and then after 2 years quit working all together and we couldn't close it any more. We use these locks daily and try to keep them clean with WD-40 and other lubricants. The abus brand works well and is durable. I live in NH and use the lock on a storage shed. Sometimes it does freeze in cold weather. I take it into the house to warm it up and melt any ice. I then blow dry it and spray WD-40 into the lock. This usually lasts 6 weeks or so. The no key option is worth the maintainence. Here's a tip: If I expect a snowstorm, I make sure I can open it the night before, and then tie an old sock around it to keep the weather out.Customer Review: ONLY COMBO LOCK TO OWN

This is the only type lock I use. I have used this style for many years. I prefered the older syle, which they no longer make (the one without the small side key). You will get rid of your regular keyed locks once you use one of these. NO MORE KEYS TO CARRY AROUND AND WORRY ABOUT OPENING THE LOCK. You set your own combination--your birthdate perhaps--- and even that can be changed. Great Item !
