This lock is perfectly useable, nothing special except maybe it looks a little cooler than those you used to put on your locker in high school. It works fine. My only complaint and something that I feel people should consider is that if you carry this lock on your bicycle you will no longer ride in pleasant silence. It rings and clatters loudly even on mostly smooth pavement. It doesn't matter if the lock is open or closed or if it hangs or lays down, it still makes a lot of noise. I did, however, find a solution - I used a small wide rubberband, the kind that comes on fresh broccoli, wrapped around the entire body of the lock to hold the dial snug and that all but silences the lock.Customer Review: Best of both worlds!

I was so excited when I found this one! I love that I have the option between the combo and key. Between the one of them, I'll always be able to open ths lock. The combination turns smoothly unlike the old style ones. By the way, you can save your combo online at a secure website, [...], which is advertised on the instructions. This lock is a little big, like a half dome, but it's not ridiculous for a gym locker. I wanted the red one too, but got the teal, still a nice color. I am going to order another one for my friend so she don't have to borrow mine!Customer Review: in case you forget your combo...

It's got a key hole in the back to open the old-fashioned way. I got it for the gym, since I didn't want to carry around a key, but was paranoid that my girlfriend would use it and not remember the combo. She uses one key, I keep the other at home.
The extra 2 bucks is an insurance policy in case you don't trust yourself to remember 3 numbers, most people can do it, but for some (you know who you are...) it's a useful addition.

This lock didn't open every time I used the correct combination. It would only open some of the time. Further, because of the design of it, reading the numbers if the lock is positioned higher than eye level is nearly impossible; the bulge of the sphere blocks the numbers and lines.
Although it's nice that it includes keys to open it, I don't recommend this lock at all and had to return it.

i was looking for a great lock for my locker at the hospital.
i thought this was the perfect one, turns out it is perfect but a bit too big to fit on the lock. :(
The dial turns perfectly smooth and i really like the feature of a key in case u forget the password.
I'm still keeping it, but might need to get the smaller version without the key option.
