Customer Review: only works on tiled floors--and not too well

We purchased a LOT of these, in order to protect our many exterior doors. We tested them out on every door, and both myself and my husband were able to push through the doors with these on every door but the one with a tiled floor--and even that didn't seem like it would hold up to much more force. I had really high hopes for this product, so needless to say, I am extremely disappointed. I weigh 120 and I was able to push through this thing--it is pretty much worthless. The problem is that the button that holds the bar at different heights is too short and flimsy--when pushed against, the button goes in and the bar collapses. The foot is also not large even to provide enough surface area to evenly support the weight an intruder will place on it. I would use this in a hotel room as back up (although I'd feel just as safe with a chair), but I'm looking for something else for my home--unfortunately.Customer Review: Great Door Security Bar

We purchased this bar to use on a regular main door of our home. We tried it on sliding glass doors, but found it too bulky for using with ease. It really would need to be thinner to use easily. That said, for the regular door we are very pleased with it. Fortunately, it will be used on a tiled floor. I tried it on a carpeted floor and I wouldn't recommend it for that use. It didn't grip the floor as well as it should. The cost was reasonable and it helps give a person a little peace of mind. One thing to keep in mind. If you have an electric garage door opener and the power goes out, you won't be able to get into your house unless you have a door without the security bar. That happened to a friend. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because it wasn't made in the USA. I would have been willing to pay more if it had been. I use this for extra security and peace of mind. I set it up with around a 65-to-70 degree or so angle to the door, which is more upright than the instructions suggest. I use it on a hardwood floor, which allows it to get a strong grip at its base. (If you use this on carpet, I think the grip would be more likely to move a bit as one tries to force the door open against it, but I have not tested this on carpet.) I tested it by trying to force the door open from the outside, and found that it was strongest at that more-upright angle vs. what's in the instructions. I was not able to force the door open with this device in place at that 65-to-70 degree angle, even though the door deadbolt was not locked during this test. I think this is a great product and a great value for some peace of mind.Customer Review: Attempted Home Invasion

My husband first bought this and I laughed. A couple of times, I forgot my garage door opener and tried to get the front door open but we could never get through with the bar in place. Then just 5 days ago we had an attemped home invasion while we were sleeping. I'm happy to report the bar did it's job and although they repeatedly tried to kick in our double doors, the crooks were unsuccesful. Unfortunately the police didn't get here soon enough to catch them. I'm not laughing anymore. The security bar kept my family safe & secure and I'm very grateful. If you keep the bar at about an 80 degree angle and make sure it's tightly on the door handle, you'll be safe. I have now recommended this product to several friends who know of the attempted invasion.Customer Review: Makes great gift/shipped quickly

I purchased several of these for Christmas gifts. I have something similar and all my old roommates would borrow my door jam when I was gone. It just adds a little extra security which is comforting. This is by far one of the cheapest prices I have seen for this product. It shipped extremely quickly - it arrived before I expected.
(Wrapping this item is tricky. Have the wrappying extend about 2" from the bottom foot and then about 4 - 5 inches from the top. Wrap the paper around several times - it won't look extremely smooth. Fold in the bottom paper - like a normal gift - so it can stand flat. Then time a ribbon around the top and fringe the exta on top. It looks cute and it's easy to stand/prop it up till it's time to give your gift.)
