Tools and Hardware Reviews of Master Lock 265DCCSEN Dual-Function Security BarCustomer Review: Completely useless !! Summary: 1 Stars
The silver button that locks the bar length in place slips out of the hole VERY easily, allowing the bar to collapse. I tested this bar by simply leaning with my full weight (220 lbs) on the outside of the door, and the button gave way, allowing the door to open freely. This little button BARELY makes it through the hole on the bar. Rather than return this thing, I am going to use my drill to make some modifications, and use another metal pin to lock the bar in place. Also, the foot of this thing slips pretty easily, even when moistened and pressed against a high-friction floor.
Master Lock should be very ashamed of this piece of garbage. It will negatively influence my future security purchases.
Customer Review: These bars work! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought five of these after reading other positive reviews. I add mine to those. These are light, solid, adjustable and easy to use. I have them protecting two doors and three windows, for which they work equally well. It took me about 10 minutes to install them all. They are made of aluminum so they are light a very strong. They appear to work equally well on carpet and hard floors. The rubber boot seems to grip very well. I believe it would take a lot of force to get through these. Hopefully enough for an intruder to think, "I'll go someplace else easier to get in to!" I recommend this product. Fair price, good Master Lock quality and they do what they advertise. What more can one ask for these days?
Customer Review: Might provide a little extra time Summary: 4 Stars
This isn't going to completely stop a person from breaking through your door if they're really determined to do so. However, this may provide you with a few extra moments, which might allow you to get to a safe room, rush to another exit and flee, or remove a trigger lock, pop in a clip, and assume a defensive position. I'm rather happy with this security bar. Although it doesn't seem to be as secure on a carpeted floor, it seems quite stable and strong on linoleum and tile floors. It also works well preventing sliding glass doors from sliding. I also recently found that this is perfect for propping open doors while moving furniture. Overall I think this is a good product and worth the money.
Customer Review: Great product, but doesn't grip well on slick surfaces Summary: 4 Stars
Easy to setup and very well built. The plastic foot is adjustable/swivels which is nice but the plastic is overly hard and has a difficult time gripping on slick surfaces like tile. Works VERY Well on carpet. I managed to figure out how to get it to work very well on tile by shortening the length of the rod and literally wedging it between the door knob and the floor. It holds very well in that position, but I wonder if someone REALLY hit the door if it wouldn't buckle because the foot is not set back very far. I plan on installing a stop in the floor further back in the near future so I can extend the rod and get a better lock. Good quality product overall and very well built.
Customer Review: PLEASE READ: Retired MMA, had to really try to bust this Summary: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews before I tried this product. I am very concerned and picky shopper. I thought I would give this a try. I believe the key to this product is the flooring you are using this on. The foot on the lock works excellent on title or wood. I would not recommend this product on carpet.
One key point to remember...the farther away you have the base from the door the less strength it has. Try to get it between 70 degrees and 80 degrees. I was able to knock it out of place at 50 and 60. I normally do not worry about safety; however, I am a heavy sleeper. I can fend for myself but I have to hear it first. Let me know if you found this helpful!
