Tools and Hardware Reviews of Master Lock 265DCCSEN Dual-Function Security Bar

Customer Review: Intruders won't get in with this one
Summary: 5 Stars

I am so glad I puchased this security bar. I learned the hard way how well it worked. The first weekend I used it I locked myself out (went out of the garage door and did not have my garage opener with me) and had to climb in through the balcony. The security would not budge and the small opening that was available when we unlocked the door with the key was not large enough to poke anything through to try and dislodge it. This is a great buy in order to get some security. An intruder would literally have to break down the door or break the glass (if you have it on your door) to get in.

Customer Review: no match for a crowbar
Summary: 1 Stars

A few weeks ago, someone broke into out house by kicking in the door. We made improvements to the door locks and got one of these "security bars" . The door did seem stable and secure with it attached. We gave the new door, a few quick (but not very hard kicks) and it did not budge or quiver. We felt more secure. Alas, the burglars came back last night with a crow bar. We found the bar laying amid the door/frame wreckage. It might have slowed them down a little but obviously did not stop them. Cop said we should replace it with the kind that hooks into the floor

Customer Review: I can't believe it works as good as it does for this low a price
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tile floors and this thing might as well be in cement once it's in place--if you're in a state like California where double-sided keyed deadbolts are illegal AND have side windows next to front door: this is your product.

If someone punches out your sidelight, then yes, EVENTUALLY they could figure out how to undo this thing--but the surprise of a door not coming open after the deadbolt is turned while the alarm is wailing might be enough to make them take off running.

For the money, I'm very very happy with this product.

Customer Review: I should have read the description more carefully
Summary: 3 Stars

I once purchased a door bar for three times the cost of this product. It had a "lever" mechanism that tightened the hold on the door knob, something that this product doesn't have. I realized my mistake in not reading the description of this product more carefully. It is not as high quality as the other one I used. This one has "pin" that you insert into a hole once you estimate how long you need the bar to be, and somehow I can't adjust it as well as I would like. I recommend that you look into purchasing a more expensive and higher-quality door bar.

Customer Review: Works fine for front door and sliding glass door
Summary: 5 Stars

I got one of these for my sliding glass door. I don't know why people say it isn't long enough for a sliding glass door. If you have a standard-sized one, believe me it will fit. I don't think the metal is flimsy and it sure beats putting a wooden stick in the track.
I also purchased one for my mother who uses it on her front door. The bottom of her floor is linoleum. I think it wouldn't stay as firm if you want to put it on carpet. Overall very pleased with these sturdy bars and would buy them again for someone else.
