Tools and Hardware Reviews of Master Lock 265DCCSEN Dual-Function Security BarCustomer Review: The 251D was better Summary: 1 Stars
I looked at the new and improved 265D model and it does not compare to the 251D that has a pressure lever. Someone mentioned that a 2 x 4 or a piece of oak cut to fit in the sliding patio door track was better. A 2 x 4 can be stained to match the door trim.
The 251D could be inserted in the sliding patio door to keep intruders from lifting the patio door out of the track. That was a nice feature of the 251D model.
Someone at MasterLock did not test it very well.
The 251D was better.
Customer Review: Master Lock Dual Function Security Bar Summary: 5 Stars
In these days of home invasions, you can't be too careful. I've owned one for years and it came in very handy. We'd just moved into our home and the people who lived here prior decided they wanted to come in to see what we'd done with the place (apparently, they still had a key and we hadn't changed the locks yet). The Master Lock Security Bar successfully kept them at bay... Just purchased for my mother who is living alone - I figure that should anyone try to get in, she will have time to react. Highly recommend.
Customer Review: Love This! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a Navy mom and have had this security bar for about 3 years. I love it! It always makes me feel safer when my husband is away. I'm an average 5'5 woman. After I put the bar in place, I use my heal to kick it firmly into place. We have used this in 2 different houses and my 6 foot 200 pound fit husband hasn't been able to break into either house with it. I am about to order one for my younger sister since she moved into her first apartment. I also recommended this to all my other Navy wife friends.
Customer Review: give way easily Summary: 1 Stars
As the other reviewers has mentioned, if you put some weight on the door, this bar gives way easily
The silver button slipped out of the holes easily. Since the inner bar is loose inside the outer cylinder bar, this allow the inner bar to be bend at a slight angle, allowing the silver button to slip out once pressure is applied on it
I am disappointed with this product, I dont have to lean my body against the door, just a hard shove and the bar will fall, allowing the door to be open.
Customer Review: Not secure, base slides on tile floor Summary: 2 Stars
Updated Jan 09: I ignored the instructions and moved the base in much closer to the bottom of the door - about half the minimum recommended distance. Now it seems to hold securely. Not sure how it would work with a determined burglar kicking the door though.
Previous review:
I'm surprised at all the good reviews for this product. The base of ours slides on tile, even when kicked in tight. Door will open when jiggled repeatedly. Not sure I would recommend this product.
