I've owned this key box for 6 yrs. Used it as an ouside key box for two years. Exposure to the elements caused the number dials to "stick" a little. I sprayed it with some WD40 and it was good as new. Now that I live in an apartment building I'm not allowed to mount this box outside of my unit so I have it mounted in my closet. It currently holds my spare car key.
It's sometimes difficult to get the door to close depending on what kind of key you put inside. I solved this problem by adding a small accessory hook to the inside of the box. I secured the hook with glue and have had no problems since.
Dont plan on putting an entire ring of keys in here because they will not fit.
If you are looking for a way to safely secure one or two keys this will do the job and at a good price.

I bought this for my son and his five college housemates so that none of them would end up locked out of the house for the night. It was kind of awkward and hard to install. Plus we were all kind of worried that their landlord would not like it that we mounted it on the (completely beat up and falling down) back porch railing. But we did it anyway. It was easy to set and change the lock combination. I was sure that the first person who made use of the hidden key would promptly lose it, so I mounted the key to one of those retractable chains and double sided foam taped it inside the box. Once that was done, you had to be very careful how you lay the key in the box so you could close and lock the lid. Anyway, the product does what it said it would, so far. Just next time around I would get the kind that hangs around the doorknob.Customer Review: Very Good and Recommended, but a Caution...

This is a great lock and I recommend it.
Pro's:
It is well built and sturdy.
It's sized to fit on the door jamb in between the door and storm door, so it's out of sight but easy to access.
The mechanism works well (though the controls could be a bit bigger).
Con's:
My Caution is this: when you close the lock, the combination remains there. You have to remember to scramble it. This could be an issue if you allow others to use the lock, such as friends or workers. I'll address the issue by putting a note in the box to "scramble combination after closing". Of course, this applies to similar locks but a better design would be that the door doesn't latch while the combination is set.

I left my house one day and realized I forgot my keys... I started heading back towards my house fearing that I had already locked the door. Fortunately the door was still open, but it still gave me a bit of a scare! Everyone else who had a key was off at work and I would've had a very long and sheepish wait outside of the house on a cold day.
That's when I resolved to buy one of these key boxes. I installed it out of plain view and set my own code in a matter of minutes. It's a good thing too since about six month later, I found myself in the exact situation I had feared (yes, I'm an airhead) and was very happy that I had installed this!
The quality is perfect - doesn't seem to leak or anything. A great product overall!

Ordered this key safe for my parents for Christmas. I thought that this was the perfect gift and it was. My parents live on 7achers in a small town. I got this for their barn area. They put it up in the barn for the keys to the tractor, lawn mower and extra truck keys. It is great! They used to get down to the barn and forget to bring the tractor key or the mower key. Now they just go to the barn and if they need to use something the key is right there. This is also piece of mind for my mother who worries someone could break into the house and get the keys and take the tractor. Now the keys are safe and tucked away where only they can get them! Now they want another one for other house keys and my grandparents and my sister wants one, too!
