Customer Review: Great for Night Land Navigation Map Reading

I use this primarily for night land navigation in a tactical environment. The light is really bright, but diffuses well through woods after 5-10 meters. It's good for use with red-light readable topographic maps. I wouldn't recommend it for use at night astronomy viewings with telescope equipment, it really is almost too bright to be used around telescopes without severely interfering. Good product, and I've had it for over a year, using it several hours in a row at a time, in multiple temperature environments. It has withstood being dropped, getting wet, dirty, sandy, and extreme cold temperatures. I've also never needed to change the batteries as of yet. I would highly recommend this product for field use.
