Tools and Hardware Reviews of Maxxima MLS-01 Occupancy Sensor LED LightCustomer Review: Perfect night light Summary: 5 Stars
My condo is very dark because of the layout and from being on the bottom floor. This makes it difficult to unlock my door because I can barely see the keyhole. I was looking for a light with sensor because there are no electrical outlets by my door and stumbled upon the Maxxima light. I ended up buying four and have not regretted it!
I hung one on the siding next to my door and it offers enough light for me to unlock the door without fumbling. Another one is in my bathroom and illuminates as soon as it sees my shadow or movement. I would have used a plug-in night light but I only have one outlet in the bathroom and I didn't want to keep unplugging it when I used my blow dryer. Plus, I'm sensitive to light at night (has to be pitch black when I sleep!) so I love that it turns off by itself.
I have one in the kitchen and also placed one near my pet's food bowl. The Maxxima offers a gentle light that is bright enough to see where you are going yet dim enough to not jar you wide-awake during a middle-of-the-night bathroom trip.
Customer Review: Maxxima Portable Sensor Light - Does what it Says! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these lights and are delighted with them!
They really do have the range they claim. One, I placed on my husband's dresser in the bedroom (am always tripping over his laundry basket when he forgets to put it away). And it immediately turns on as soon as I enter the doorway (approx. 13 feet away).
The other is in the livingroom on the windowsill, so when he gets up in the middle of the night for a snack, it immediately turns on so he's not tripping over anything or walking into the corners of furniture.
It is a bright light (but not overly so), and stays on long enough to pass through the room ...and if I want it to stay on, I can either flip a switch on it OR keep moving into it's sensor range.
This is a GREAT item for dark areas of your home. AND it works just like it says it does.
I highly recommend!
Customer Review: good for indoor use Summary: 4 Stars
Count me among the rest of the reviewers who think this is indeed a pretty good, inexpensive motion-activated light. I've got one mounted in the upstairs hallway where I live, and it works; when something moves, the light turns on, stays on for a few minutes, and turns off. By no means does it fill the area with bright light. It's more like an LED keychain light, if that, but it suffices for safety lighting.
No word on battery life. Another reviewer says they last 1-2 years before needing replacement. I will be ordering more of these, as they're good enough for my requirements.
*EDIT* The first set of batteries lasted about ten months before they were totally depleted. Fortunately, I swapped out the cheap, leaking alkalines before they damaged the light, replacing them with some Sanyo Eneloops which hopefully will not leak.
Customer Review: Dark room assistance Summary: 5 Stars
This light and one with three lamps were bought specifically to temporarily light our bedroom and bathroom for middle-of-the-night calls of nature. They both rest on their bases and don't have to be attached to walls, which works best for us: one on a bureau near the bed and one on the back of a wide tub ledge. We moved them around for the best effect and best angles for the sensors and the lamps. Their locations also keep our cats from setting off the sensors. The one-lamp version would work in both locations since it is quite bright enough, and its translucent cover softens the intensity. The three-lamp version with the clear cover is more than adequate for our bedroom area and, in fact, is too bright to be looked at directly. If you have a similar dark-room situation, try the one-lamp version first. The reviews guided my purchase.
Customer Review: No more stumbling around in the dark Summary: 5 Stars
I hate it when I stumble off to the bathroom in the middle of the night and have to turn on the lights which are blaring bright. I wanted to get an LED night light and the issue came up that there are no electrical outlets in the bathroom.
So I bought three of these units - one for each bathroom and one to take traveling (hotel bathrooms have the same issue).
The units only come on if it's dark and they sense motion - so it works really well. I checked the batteries the other day and they look to be fully charged still - so the battery drain is very low.
I actually found them a little too bright - so I made lenses covers from some translucent blue material.
I'd highly recommend these units. They are very inexpensive and work exceptionally well.
