Customer Review: Great Super Bright LED Flashlight

I use high powered flashlights for professional macro photography. I had been using a 4-c battery 5 watt Luxeon but that beloved flashlight got too close to a high magnetic field on a hot day and it died. My new light, a MFlare Rebel 90 210 lumen is even better than my old Luxeon.
I was happy to see that it is not a 2 pound flashlight without the batteries, much less than the description says. With batteries it weighs a manageable 812 grams, almost two pounds. There is a slight color difference between the low and high settings. Low is a very slightly warmer color, but not so warm as to be a problem for color photography.
It is very well made and looks like it will last for years. I find the focus mechanism very useful for closeup photography. I had never been able to get a wide beam at some objects with the light close to it. There is spherical aberration at the edges. But the aberration does not appear in the photos for some unknown reason.
The on off switch has two settings, is easy to operate and secure. It won't go on or off accidentally. So far the unit has not heated up.
The light was packed well. The catalog it comes with shows some much brighter lights they make, one rated at 1,000 lumens. I can't use anything that bright for macro photography. The low setting on this 3-D cell battery light is best for that.
I am also happy it takes D cells. Those last a long time, are cheap and strong; much better than CR125's, AA, AAA, and C cells.
The design is is very cylinder like, so it could roll and fall easily; I'll have to be careful with it.
The light it supplies is giving me the best color photos of gemstones I've been able to achieve in doing photography for over 20 years. I may have to get a spare Rebel 90 in case anything happens to this one.
The Luxeon bulbs just get better and better. In the old days we used to have to use hot flood lights, or a flashlight with dozens of little led's to get anywhere near this bright. This baby does it with one light. I also use 5000K fluorescent lights for the photography.
In addition, there is a sense of security I get having this. Those batteries will last so long, it's water resistant, rugged, strong, macho, sturdy, so it will be there and ready when I most need it.
