Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book Light - PurpleCustomer Review: I wish I had this light when I was 10! Perfect for reading books in bed! Summary: 5 Stars
This light is wonderful - either in a poorly lit room or your completely dark bedroom. There are two settings for a lighter and dimmer setting, but I generally always keep it on the brightest setting.
It's great to attach to a Kindle cover (not great to attach to the Kindle itself!) - stays put and lights up what you need to see - although I do feel that the clip that attaches to the Kindle cover is a little bit bulky. With the original Kindle cover - it attaches great when you flip the cover open and then clip it on the top around both sides of the cover. You cannot leave it clipped on and then fold the cover over because the bulk on the back will not let it close all the way, so you have to keep adjusting it. Nevertheless, it is a quick 1 second fix.
It is very flexible and bendy so you can adjust it properly so that there is no glare on the screen.
For a regular paper back book, I am not sure how it would hold it. The weight of the light may be a bit too heavy for the thin paperback cover, but I would assume if you clipped in a bunch of the pages that it would be sturdy enough to hold...I have yet to try using this light with a regular book since I have gotten my kindle!
I wish I had this when I was a 10 year old reading books in my room instead of using a stupid flashlight!
Customer Review: Mighty Perplexed Summary: 2 Stars
Needed to replace my incandescent Mighty Bright that had served me well for close to ten years after it met an unfortunate but much delayed death. This unit arrived straight away, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they included batteries. I placed the batteries in the light straight away, and turned it on and was pleased with its performance. Imagine my surprise when I went to turn the light on later that evening and... nothing. I removed the batteries, replaced them, and still, nothing. I actually read the instructions (where I found nothing helpful) and had given up and walked away when one of the LCDS came on. I cycled through the bulbs and only one was responsive. About twenty minutes later, the other bulb came on. This problem has persisted on multiple occasions: when it works, it's great, but after lengthy periods of inactivity (e.g. 9 hours or so) it takes forever to turn on for reasons that are not quite clear to me. Judging from the other reviews that I've found my experience seems to be anomalous, but I definitely could not recommend this product if their reliability issues are anything like I've experienced. Very disappointed, but I'll be back with another review after I send this one back and receive a replacement.
Customer Review: Wonderful light! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered two and they just came today. Thanks, Amazon! This is a great, well-made clip on light. I think those that own e-readers have a collection of various lights looking for the 'perfect' one. The Mighty Bright is very close to perfection. Not that it matters, I just had to have these in the cool-looking purple. Now to specifics.
Pros:
Relatively light weight.
Push button operation so there is no slider to eventually wear out.
Uses readily available and inexpensive AAA batteries
Long flex arm for infinite adjustments.
Clamps neatly and easily to my Kindle cover with no chance for damage.
There are small indicator lamps on the top of the light assembly that let you know which power level you're on.
Cons:
None at all! You owe it to yourself to get one of these dual lamp beauties. Maybe get two so you'll have a spare or if there's a power outtage!
Customer Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
Just got my Mighty Bright yesterday and I love it. I can't believe I was living with out this. I can now read comfortably and study without having the main lights on. This is very helpful as I have to study during the evenings and my husband and son are usually trying to mellow out for bedtime.
I'm using this for large textbooks and smaller paperbacks. The size of the light is small, but the light is wonderful! It's enough to perfectly light up both pages of a very large textbook! It's, also, lightweight. I was worried about how heavy it would be, but it's pleasantly lightweight. :) The neck of the light is very flexible. I didn't expect it to bend and fold with such fluid ease, which is a good thing.
I like the lower light setting, but if you're eyes are very bad in the dark the brighter light will help you out more.
Customer Review: Great for toddler helps with bedtime Summary: 5 Stars
We run rechargeable sanyo eneloops in this LED for no worries about runtime. My child can leave it on and control the brightness. This light compared to the room's 60w bulb is relatively dim, and helps encourage sleep. Positive effects were noticeable the first night, with less getting up out of bed, and falling asleep quicker.
I also purchased one for my wife, and she also uses the light every night for reading, writing, and studying. We bend the flex head so the beam points up to the ceiling, and it gently illuminates the whole room perfect for watching movies. It's a great task light, too, and saves on the electric bill because we use this so often instead of flicking the wall switch when we don't need really bright light.
