Tools and Hardware Reviews of Minka-Aire F518-WH 44-inch Concept II Flush Mount Ceiling Fan, White with White BladesCustomer Review: Nice ceiling fan Summary: 4 Stars
Recently ordered this fan and found it very easy to install and use. The remote features a three speed setting with reverse and allows the light to be dimmed variably. The problem I had was with the halogen 100w bulb. One, it's not bright enough when covered, output is similar to 60 watts. Two, after two days of use the bulb blow out, replacement bulb is $10 - $15 and is rated at 2000 hours. I probably had a bad bulb, but I did follow all special directions on handling a halogen bulb. In all fairness, I did contact the seller and they did agree to send a replacement which I have not received as yet. This is a very handsome fan and is wobble free!
Customer Review: Outstanding Quality; Easiest Fan To Install Ever!!! Summary: 5 Stars
The quality of this fan is as good or better than any fan I've ever owned. I just put one up in my daughter's bedroom, and after installation of the baseplate I was done in less than 10 minutes. They've even made installation easier by pre-installing the remote control's receiver at the factory (although they haven't updated the instruction booklet to reflect this yet). All in all - unlike previous fan installation experiences - I actually ENJOYED putting this fan up!!! It looks great and works great - I couldn't be more pleased. I'm buying three more to replace the rest of the small fans in my house - the Minka-Aire F518-WH is that good.
Customer Review: Quiet, looks good, and easy to install Summary: 5 Stars
The last fan we put in was an extended drama of trips to the home supply store and frustration. Fans are not designed for 1920s plaster and lath. So this time, we ordered the fans (which required low clearance, ceiling mount, and an unobtrusive design), AND hired a handyman. When he arrived, he commented on the weight and indicated you never knew about installation time with fans - it could be 30 parts or just a few. These went up in a snap and he was impressed with the quick installation, as were we.
All is functioning well through many recent heatwaves, where the fans are on for days at a time. Whisper quiet, too.
Customer Review: easy to install and clean, modern look Summary: 5 Stars
Installed the fan myself; it was very easy (and I'm not particularly handy). I haven't seen the wobble other reviewers have mentioned. The fan is operating flawlessly so far. I like how the light cover screws into the base, rather than screws holding it on; seems like a better design than I've seen on other fans and less likely to develop rattles/noise. This is the second fan I've installed in my home, the other is a Casablanca. I wish I had seen this fan prior to purchasing the Casablanca; I like this one better in appearance, operation and assembly.
Customer Review: nice looking but doesn't move a whole lot of air Summary: 2 Stars
I have had this fan for 5 years now and was never happy with the air movement--I have it in a small bedroom but it just doesn't do the trick. At about year 4 I had lots of problems with the remote--could never change the direction of airflow and it always seemed to revert back to the wrong direction. Year 5 the fan stopped working and although the motor has a lifetime warranty I was happy to have an excuse to replace it. If you like a lot of air movement I think a 5blade fan might be better
