This is easy to install. There is an alternate product that is basically 3 feet long that is screwed in at multiple places up and down the door frame which may be better, but is distinctly more expensive. It is amazing that builders can get away with using such flimsy material for door frames, and usually the lock faceplate is inserted using a couple (or at most 4) of small mostly decorative brass screws. In most houses, including expensive houses, the degree of security provided by your door is a joke. One well aimed kick and the door frame (or the wood around your lock) will splinter. This product makes the lock a little bit more secure. Of course we havent had a real life "test" on this and certainly hope not to have one, but it is reassuring to have this plate secured with 6 long steel screws deep into the wooden frame of the door.
