this is the valve you want. I bought several of the off brand valves locally for less than half the price of this part, but each lasted 6 months. Both the Lowes and Home depot brands. Following Moen's instructions,I purchased what I thought ws the correct cartridge. However, it turned out to be incorrect. So, I subsequently purchaced the correct unit(after removal of the old one). I never used the 1225 but subsequently bought a 1222 from Amazon.

Further to the warranty issue. I reviewed my instructions included with my original Moen faucet and sure enough they provide a written, lifetime warranty on any parts that leak. This is a Moen made original factory part (1225 Single Handle Faucet replacement cartridge). I compared cost with many other sources but Amazon beat the best price by about half. Moen product, so good quality. These used to be metal, but now parts of it are plastic, but it works well. Pre-lubed with silicone, so none needed. Just install as shown in the directions. I've done it before, so it's about a 3 minute procedure.
