Customer Review: Just What I Needed

The shower knob was just what I needed, at an unbelievable price. I paid a whole lot more ordering one form another website. By far you had the best price and the best service! :-)
Update: 9 Feb 2011. Once again the shower knob broke, in the same way as the ones I had installed before. I got almost two years of use out of this last one. I finally looked up Moen Corporate US online and used the 'Contact Us' web page found here: [...]. There was a place to insert pictures, so I took a picture of the broken knob with my cell phone and sent it along with a description of the problem on 7 February. on 9 February I had an e-mail response with a customer service number: 1-800-289-6636. When I called the number I got a human being, Sally, after a few minutes' wait. She asked a few questions about the unit. She wanted to know if the knob was hard to pull out. I told her it was no harder to pull than the sink faucet knobs. She said the acrylic knobs break for two reasons: 1) the cartridge behind the knob needs replacing, or 2) spray cleaners were used to clean it and they degraded the plastic. I admitted to using Dow Scrubbing Bubbles and never anything else. She said to use vinegar and water or a mild soap, but no chemicals. She also took my address down and said she would send me a new knob and a new cartridge free of charge. While I am not sure why Dow cleaner would harm the shower knob and not the faucet knobs (also Moen and also made out of acrylic), I am willing to give not using it a try. I don't know what Moen could have done to be more responsive.
Note to Markus Aurelius: I am not now, nor was I ever, a shill for Moen. I was happy to have the knob at Amazon's price of what was then $16.84 with free super saver shipping over the price I paid for the previous knob of more than twenty-five dollars by the time shipping was added in. I saved myself the price of an entire new shower fixture plus the house call charge and the labor charge of a plumber to install it. Who wouldn't be ecstatic? As for the aftermarket Danco replacement, I did go to the local Lowes *and* Home Depot, willing to try anything that even looked like it would fit, and came up empty-handed. Glad you mileage varies.
