Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mosquito Barrier 2001 Liquid Spray Repellent, 1-QuartCustomer Review: No more ticks Summary: 4 Stars
I have used this for the past two summers. I live in WI in a very wooded area so there are a lot ticks and mosquitoes. We have a cat and a child so using a natural product is very important to us. One bottle will last me most of the summer and I have seen a reduction in mosquitoes and absolutely no ticks! My main concern are the ticks. Many kids in our area have had Lyme Disease so I am concerned for my own child's health. I always add canola oil and dish soap to help the product stick better and last longer. I do use another product to repel mosquitoes when we have activities outdoors in the evening, but overall I am happy with this product. The only real downside is the price.
Customer Review: AMAZING! Summary: 5 Stars
I had such a bad tick problem! I have acres and acres of woods behind my house and a small swamp to the right of my house, so ticks were always my #1 problem. My dog has Lyme disease (she got this before i started mosquito barrier) I have a home daycare as well as a toddler so I needed to do something about the ticks as well as mosquitoes. This stuff REALLY works on ticks!!! I notice it works on mosquitoes about 60% but considering they breed in the standing water in our back yard that is really good! This product is a life saver, a few yrs ago I couldn't take the kids out because of the ticks. It was so bad you could see the ticks climbing all over the slides and sandbox :(
Customer Review: Garlic Spray WORKS Summary: 5 Stars
We have been using Mosquito Barrier for three summers now on our 5 acre horse farm in southern michigan. I spray with a commercial style sprayer on a John Deere 955. I can cover all of our acres with a mix of 1/2 gallon M.B. with 1 quart Vegetable oil, and 1/3 quart dish soap, with 25 gallons water. Until I spray, my wife BEGS me to go out and do it. She can't even begin to ride her horse at dusk, all it wants to do is go into the barn. Afterward both her and our horses don't have any problems with mosquitos. Our neighbors have even noticed less mosquitos on their property after I spray. I disagree with anybody that says this product is not worth the money!!
Customer Review: no impact! Summary: 1 Stars
We have a pretty bad mosquito problem in our yard in the summer - no standing water in our yard but there is a water inlet about 3 blocks away which has tide water, I assume they must come from there. I used a pump sprayer and followed directions on the bottle. It was quite humid when I did the first treatment and so I repeated it just a few days after the first trial - I am sorry to say - I saw absolutely no visible improvement of the mosquito problem in our yard. Maybe it works on SOME types of mosquitos, we have the "tiger" type, black/white stripes which bite at any time of the day, not just at dusk and again, this product did not work for us at all.
Customer Review: It's worth a try! Summary: 5 Stars
Let's face it, the mosquitoes are going to win. This product does better than any I know without harmful side effects for people or pets. Besides, it smells like someone's making pizza! (It only smells during the first few hours after application). The most difficult part of the process is paying attention to the weather. You have to apply and let it dry. Watch for a couple of days in a row with no rain the forecast and spray the repellent on EVERYTHING: fence, house, bushes, grass, flowers (if you add a little canola oil, it makes everything shiny too!). I used this a couple years ago with success and I'll use it again.
