Customer Review: We love Clocky - even if he is a battery hog :)

I bought this for our sons who are notoriously difficult to get out of bed in the morning. Well, they hate/love Clocky because Clocky wakes them up! Clocky does exactly what it says, gives you a chance to wake up to a normal alarm clock, then gets more upset until he finally jumps off of the dresser/table/whatever and runs around the room until you catch him and shut him off.
The negatives we've found with Clocky is that he is a battery hog AND sometimes is difficult to set to the right time, you really have to follow the directions carefully the first few times to make sure you have it set correctly. He has been able to jump off of our furniture from 4 feet onto laminate flooring, though I don't think it's a good idea to do that all the time. A normal height bedside table works fine and make sure there is a clear area for him to run around (or, like I do, shove enough crap out of the way where the only place he can run is under the bed so they have to crawl under to catch him). The boys really do like him, though they have hidden him a few times :) They've also enjoyed setting him up in unsuspecting guests rooms - just make sure your guests have a good sense of humor. We're buying another Clocky for our girls who are getting to that age where they no longer want to wake up with the crack of dawn - and so it goes.

I bougth Clocky for my husband's birthday. He had been using his blackberry for an alarm clock, and wasn't too happy with that arrangement. We had thought about buying Clocky for his little brother for Christmas, so I knew it was something he'd be interested in.
We love Clocky. First of all, he works really well as a clock/alarm clock. It's very easy to set both the time, and the alarm. The alarm is loud, and also varried. There is no way you could sleep through Clocky. It sounds a bit like R2D2 when it goes off. It also flashes a little light, and I swear, giggles.
We have set him to roll off the nightstand to test this function, and he did very well. He ran away and hid in our closet. For everyday use we just keep him stationary. The alarm is enough to wake us up, without the scavanger hunt. My husband LOVES that you can vary the snooze time.
I am very happy with Clocky. I would definitely recommend the product to others.

I'm a snooze-button addict. Left to my own devices, I'll sleep ten or more hours a day and end up feeling like a bleary-eyed bag of mud. Clocky promised to beat me at my own game.
And he has, mostly. The alarm is loud and impossible to ignore, the face is flashy, the wheels are effective enough to cart this little robotic sucker over most surfaces. When I remember to set him, he wakes me up successfully.
That's the problem: you have to completely reset him each day, alarm and wheels. Why not just have the snooze button work as a reset after he's driven around? I'd also prefer Clocky to be a bit smarter, a bit more independent, a bit less predictable (I'm pretty sure the alarm sequence never changes). Better wheels for shag carpet wouldn't hurt, either.
Will I still recommend him to friends and family? Absolutely. He's a great little alarm clock at a reasonable price point, and I'd buy him again.

For as long as I can remember, I have had trouble waking up using a regular alarm clock. In the past few years, I've used an alarm clock, three alarms on my cell phone, and recently an alarm on my work cell phone placed across the room. All of them, every morning.
Then I bought Clocky a month ago. I now use my old alarm clock to have the radio start pulling me out of sleep, then Clocky rolls along the floor and I'm up. No more additional alarms.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, it helps a lot to have the random alarm pattern and, for what it is worth, it doesn't sound like other alarm clocks. You do have to plan a little and block off where you don't want Clocky to go--like under the bed. And if you have the habit of unconsciously turning off the alarm, then I suggest setting it to not have the snooze setting.
All in all, this is the best alarm clock I've ever had. I'd buy it again, too.

I am a heavy sleeper that struggles to get up in the morning. After reading about "Clocky" I felt certain that this alarm would do the trick. Unfortunately I found it to be no better than any average alarm clock. In theory this is how it works: when the alarm goes off, "Clocky" rolls off of whatever surface you put it on, then proceeds to roll and spin around the floor, so that you have to physically get up and get it. However, I found that at times clocky did not even roll off of the nightstand and would instead knock things off the nightstand. When it does roll off the nightstand, it does not roll very far away from the bed (which was the main problem) and I was generally able to grab clocky and snooze without getting out of bed. I found that I am better off putting an alarm in my bathroom (that adjoins my room) so that I have to physically get out of bed.
