Customer Review: Doesn't work in the real world

I have used similar products for leak repair in the past. They were as easy to apply as this stuff says but, the difference is, they worked. I carefully followed the instructions even going a step further to cleaning and drying my water hose before attempting to repair. Wrapped with overlapping 2/3 each wind and reversed direction and went over area with a second layer. I first tried it with low pressure through the hose and it immediately began leaking again. The same amount of water as with no tape at all. We are talking about a pinhole leak here, not a gaping gash.
To excelude operator error, I removed all of the tape and reapplied being even MORE careful to keep the edges flat, pull it tight, overlap evenly, repeat second lap. Water on, leak is back.
If you read the other reviews about this product, they sound more like marketing than actual users. That's the "real world" I refer to in my title for this post.
Don't be turned off of tape leak repair as a useful method, I have used other products with great results.
I wasted 6 bucks on this stuff and ended up sealing the hose with a few wraps of $1.50 electrical tape. It won't last forever but at least I don't have a leak for now.
