Tools and Hardware Reviews of Neiko Fit Anywhere Digital Electronic Safe Box for Home, Office, Boat/RV - 550 Cubic Inches - Gray ColorCustomer Review: Ideal for what it is. Summary: 5 Stars
This safe is ideal for what it is. It will do a great job of keeping inquisitive minds out (e.g., children) and your semi-valuables in one place. I do believe that having the override key on the outside is the fatal flaw in this unit. I speculate that the lock could be picked by a semi-skilled person within one hour.
For those who are looking at more secure safes I would recommend making sure that, for the additional money, you also get a few of the following convenience options, which this safe does not have:
* Allows you to turn off the key pad "beep", as not to notify others you are opening your safe.
* The number display illuminates for easy access at night.
* Either mechanical keypad or store the batteries on the outside of the unit. This way the door does not have to be opened to replace batteries, eliminating the need for a key.
* Fire and water resistant
* Shelving
Customer Review: You get what you pay for Summary: 4 Stars
This safe isn't fireproof or waterproof or anything like that. It could easily be broken into by someone with a drill and some time. But it's not meant to be impenetrable.
I use mine to keep a few valuables and a handgun locked up away from kids and "nosey" guests and it works perfect for that. It can be bolted to a wall or the floor with the included bolts.
Some people have complained about the loud "beep" when entering the code but you can also open it silently with the key. The beep can be disabled if you're not too scared to cut the speaker wire. Personally, I like the loud beep, it alerts me to people punching buttons on the safe.
All in all, it's not a big heavy, immobile safe. It's not completely secure. It's not fire or water proof. It's a small, personal safe and it's priced as such.
Customer Review: Great little safe. Summary: 5 Stars
I searched many different sites and read every review. This little safe had mostly good reviews with a couple not so good ones.
My personal opinion is VERY good. Do I wish I had the money to buy a $300.00 unit? Of course! But for the money...this is a great little safe. Perfect size for a couple of hand guns, meds, cash or whatever. It will not keep a safe cracker out of your things but it will do just fine against your kids or nosey room mates.
My only neg comments about this safe is that the key pad should be back lit, also when pressing the buttons it beeps each time, I wish I could turn the beeping off. But for the money you cant beat it...I will be buying another...one up stairs one down.
Customer Review: Nice security box for the money Summary: 4 Stars
It is what it is. This is a great security box to secure your valuables. (Not a Safe or Fire proof box) The box is a fairly heavy guage sheet metal with good sized bolts to secure the double layer door. If you want to be secure from a robbery I recommend securing it to a wall. (at under 10 pounds it could easily be taken) The anchors provided look to be good only for a cement or cinder block wall.
The only con would be the keypad beep. You definitely know when you push the buttons. Having bought this for my daughters dorm room she did not want the beep. I ended up removing the speaker from the circuit board which required the use of a soldering iron.
In all a good value for the money.
Customer Review: not what i expected Summary: 3 Stars
I was looking for a fire and water proof safe to store documents. For some reason this safe popped up in my search. It was my fault for not reading the details of this safe more carefully. So i have to say i was disappointed when i realized it was not fire proof and for sure not water proof as it has mounting holes in it. I would have returned it but my husband opened it and threw out the box before i got home. So now we have it. The safe seems a little dainty. All im storing in it is papers so i feel ok with using it even though its kinda small, however if you plan to store anything with extreme value in it then i would go with a heavier duty safe.
