Customer Review: Flimsy and poorly constructed

This is a review for the Neu Home Organize It All Stainless-Steel Step-On 16-Gallon Recycle Bin or 60-liter, 2 compartment step-on recycle bin.
I am returning my second bin.
The first one arrived dented on one edge because the packaging does not protect the edges of the bin, just the corners, top and bottom. Mysteriously, there was a small broken peg floating around. The right step initially felt uneven -- upon closer examination, I realized the setup wasn't pushed in all the way, so I snapped the stepping apparatus in fully. Once that was fixed, the lids seemed to open and close fine. Still, I returned the bin because of the significant dent on one of the edges.
This was where I first started worrying about whether the materials were too flimsy.
The exchange order said the item wouldn't be available until March, so I canceled the exchange order and ordered a separate one.
The second one arrived without dents, which was a good start. However, there was a broken round peg floating around again as well as a sliver of plastic from somewhere else. But the biggest deal-breaker was that the right lid just wouldn't open all the way no matter how much you pressed down on it. Meanwhile, the left lid opened fine. My husband tinkered with it to try and make it work better, but those two lids will never match one another as the whole device is pretty flimsily constructed. It's just a chain of metal rods that aren't fixed in very well, so they shift and move. The plastic doesn't feel very dense. The metal is very thin. It feels like the bin will fail over time or an unsuspecting guest could break it by stomping too hard.
It really feels extremely fragile relative to my simplehuman trash can.
Too bad, because this is the largest recycle bin under $100. I was really looking forward to sorting my recycling in a more aesthetically pleasing way. I will have to search for a different solution.
