Tools and Hardware Reviews of ITW Space Bag BRS-59112 Vacuum-Seal Storage Bags, Extra Large, Set of 2Customer Review: Work as advertised or even a touch better. Summary: 5 Stars
My wife is obsessed with cleanliness. She vacuums our entire home every day, and oil soaps the floors every two weeks; she wouldn't open a window if it didn't save a dime on air conditioning, because she's sure the bugs and dust will come rushing in (funny that she married her exact opposite in these respects). So I was not suprised when she suddenly asked me to get Space Bags to keep the non-Summer bedding and clothing in--though being from Japan I was a bit suprised she had picked up on the commercials from what tiny bit of American television she watches.
These things really are as good as they seem in the commercials. The plastic is good and thick, and the seals are absolutely leak proof. And for working like they claim to, I give them five stars.
I know people are thinking that five stars requires a rave review, but my opinion is that things should simply work as they're designed to do--perhaps even exceed expectations--and that it's nothing to dance in the street about when they do.
BOTTOM LINE: Space Bags work quite nicely, they're priced appropriately, and are quite durable--nothing more you really need to know.
Customer Review: WOW! Why'd I wait so long to try these??? Summary: 5 Stars
I just got my order of 2 jumbo spacebags-- and WOW! The king comforter shrunk down to next to nothing in the XL size bag! I did not have a poblem getting the ziplock seal closed- it worked great for me. I just ordered 6 more bags...I think that should pretty much should take care of my linen closet! When compressed they were not as flat and smooth as I expected, but I found on my second try if I hold it flat and keep pulling the edges out it does get flatter and smoother, and when I did a more "subatantial" comforter it did stay smoother. I think with some practice I can have them looking like the commercials! at first I was concerned as my vacuum hose did not fit perfectly over the nozzle, but just holding it flush worked fine. I intend to seal sets seperately so it's not a hassle to actually use the linens when I want them. In my photo I said it was jumbo bag- I was mitaken, they are indeed XL bags. The XL fit a "flimsy" king comforter and was just big enough for a thicker queen comforter.
Customer Review: The only way to travel Summary: 5 Stars
I have taken some time to read some of the other reviews that have been given for this product and have been blown away by the amount of negative feedback that has been given. My experience with Space Bags has been wonderful.
Now I'm not sure that I would plan on using them for long term storage, but for travel there is simply no better option. I recently used them for a trip to Europe and they were a life saver. I needed to take a significant number of clothes and such and was able to fit everything that I needed in just a few bags. They held up very well over both legs of the trip. Not even my luggage fared as well.
I did notice that one of the bags began to leak after a few days, but it wasn't very much and it certainly wasn't even to keep me from buying more in the future.
In short, if you follow the instructions you should certainly have a good experience with Space Bags.

I could only get these things to work about half the time...And even then they would seal for a while and spring a leak later.
So now when I need to pack up stuff for the winter I just grab a 30 gal. trash bag, load it up and sit on top of it to squish out most of the air. After twisting the top and tying a knot in it, I get cheap and compact way to store bulky items.
Customer Review: These things do not work Summary: 1 Stars
I actually bought mine at a retail store, 2 huge and 2 extra-large (I never tried these) in the box. I used the 2 huge ones for throw pillows and throws. I like to change these out seasonally. I followed the instructions and at first I thought it was pretty neat. They really do sink down and everything flattens out. However...over the next few days and weeks they slowly popped back up. I thought maybe I did something wrong and so I re-did them over again...again they sunk back down flat. But this time they expanded even more quickly than before. I thought what do I have to do, put duct tape over the round plastic tab closure? Why should I have to do that? Probably wouldn't have worked anyway. I had bought two vinyl covered storage chests for my cats to sit in front of the window on, and I put my pillows and throws inside those. Hopefully I can return these and get back my money.
