These bags work well. At first I was rather dissapointed due to severe air leaks that i just couldn't seem to stop. But the bags zipper opening comes with a little puller thing (like a ziplock bag). Take this zipper pull off and seal it with your fingers. This is the only way you can be sure that the zipper tracks are lined up right and to get a tight seal you have to be able to feel it seal. Once i did this they worked fine.
Also the quality of your vaccume will determin how compact they will become. I reccomend using something like a shop vac for the best results.

If these bags don't hold air, as advertised, then do as I do and create your own. I use extra heavy garbage bags and suck out the air with my vacumn cleaner. Twist and tie the end with a tight string or rope. The problem I have is that if I don't get the tie really tight the air SLOWLY leaks out. I had considered buying Space Bags because I thought they would NOT leak. However, it sounds as though some of these bags leak faster than my own garbage bags. I thought this would be a great product when i saw the infomercial. In fact I regret ever buying it. The bags reinflate in a matter of days. the first set I bought did that, and i thought it was me not doing it properly. Then I bought a second set with the same problem (bags reinflate and tear very easily). the worse is that space bag does not stand behind its product. it will cost me more than the product is worth to send it back, just to have them replace (no refund). I was a little skeptical because other people who reviewed the product had problems with air leaks, but they worked wonderfully for me! My fiance and I just moved to Oregon from Illinois and we fit all of our clothes and bed set into two sets of these bags. Wow! (I have a LOT of clothes!) You can cram so much in and the vacuum really helps shrink it down. It saved so much space in our already full car. We wouldn't have been able to bring it all without them. I watched the infomercials and decided to give them a try; I needed to store several comforters and some old uniforms. Upon opening the shipping container I noticed that one of the bags came with a rip in it. I loaded up all of the other bags with the aforementioned items and less than two weeks later the bags are nearly the size of the original items. In short, the bags leak air slowly and are only good for keeping dust off your items. Don't purchase these bags if you want the items to truly compress.
