Tools and Hardware Reviews of O2-Cool Model 1054 10" Indoor/Outdoor Fan

Customer Review: nice little fan for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this due to potential power failure in winter times here in Missouri, as last couple of years Ice storms seem to knock power out for a week. I use this little fan to help stir the air in the room, with the fireplace. Read some reviews about a capacitor or resistor blowing up. However, so far that has not happened to me. I would suggest, REMOVE THE BATTERIES IF YOUR GOING TO USE THE AC ADAPTER. I dont believe this unit is safe when using on AC when the batteries are still in the fan. Just advice to others. Otherwise, so far I havnt seem to have any problems yet. It moves a far amount of air for a small battery fan. PS use alkaline batteries. If you use rechargeable, batteries, dont leave them in the fan , when you use the AC cord. This unit is not to charge batteries.

Customer Review: Worked very well for me
Summary: 4 Stars

Used it only very little on one camping trip and it worked very well for me. Was quiet yet powerful given its size, and I liked the flexibility of being able to hang it inside the tent or pull out the legs and use it that way. Wish had bought on Amazon, though, since as I read a couple of the "fire hazard - bad battery compartment" reviews, I can see how that might in fact be an issue, will have to check that out when use again. That compartment does seem the weak link in it, as recall that part being cheaply made, hard to get the batteries in and when do they're precariously tight in there.

You'll have to weigh these reviews and decide for yourself, but again, if not for that concern, this is a really nice fan.

Customer Review: Battery Installation requires a Miracle
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this fan, model 1054, for use in our tent. But we can use it only at home, plugging it in with the adaptor. The battery compartment is poorly made, and as you install batteries they keep popping out. Also, the contacts don't line up correctly, so even after I got all the batteries in, the cover wouldn't close because one battery sticks up somewhat.

I wish I had returned it for a refund, but we had taken it along on our trip and discarded the box, thinking this would be a GOOD and USABLE fan. Paying so much extra for the battery option was a waste of money and very frustrating.

The model # 1078 has a much better battery compartment; we have it; it works well.

Customer Review: Is not water-resistant nor constructed for outdoor use
Summary: 1 Stars

It took me about 20 seconds to put this fan right back into its box and return it. The stand for the fan holds the batteries. The whole battery compartment tilts down to form a U-shaped stand/leg for the fan. As soon as I started to tilt it down the whole battery cover popped off. It's only secured by a few tiny tabs. There is no way the battery compartment is anything approaching water resistant. There is no way you could use this in any kind of rainy or wet situation. I'm not saying it should be submersible. I'm merely saying that if rain got on this fan in any way it would be done for. And that's only if you could get the battery cover to stay on.

Customer Review: Very Cool Fan!
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased this for our camper, for the times we don't "plug in". It is a wonder. It seems to go and go on one set of batteries, it really does move air and it is, as fans go, extremely quiet. It is easy to attach the plug and use it on regular power as well. It folds flat and is therefore easy to store in our limited space on board our home on wheels. It is stable on a flat surface, and has a little hook for hanging (which we have done with an "S" hook). Putting batteries in the first time is a little tricky, but not really hard if you pay attention (not my long suit) to the "cues" on the fan. This product has served us well. No regrets!
