Customer Review: Worth every penny

It functions as stated and works perfectly (mine is about 4 months old now). I've got MS and heat (anything about 75 degrees) diminishes my ability to function so this little unit has been a god-send. While everyone around me is just fine with the temperature I can take care of my needs without imposing them on others. And I've taken it with me when traveling; the bottle-shaped body fits nicely into the water-bottle portion of my bag. This combination of mist and fan make ME into a happy, functional human.
I especially like that I can mist, turn on the fan, and set it on the table beside/in front of me or on the counter while I'm working in the kitchen for hands-free cooling.
It is true that if the air is very hot and you haven't misted yourself the fan will be ineffectual. But it's also true that once you HAVE misted yourself the fan cools for quite a while.
I've read several reviews, both here and on other sites, and experiences vary widely. I've had a GREAT experience with this and you might, too.... but you might not. The fan is inexpensive enough that you should consider giving it a shot. I see, also, that O2Cool has created the same basic unit with an opening that is large enough to accept ice cubes; that might be better for some.
UPDATE: I lost my 8101 on vacation and had to replace it with a 2059. ARGH!!!! Yeah, it still holds water and the fan blade turns but it's MUCH less effective (the fan blade is slower-turning) and the fan was accidentally turned on three times in one day! As soon as I got home I ordered two of the 8101 fans from Amazon.
