Tools and Hardware Reviews of Orbit 62001 Lawn and Garden Digital Watering TimerCustomer Review: Reliable Timer - Easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
I'm here buying my second timer because I have been very pleased with the first one. After going through several other timer brands at the beginning of last summer, I bought an Orbitz timer as well as the Clabor 2-outlet timer. Both came highly recommended on Amazon. I found them both to be very reliable and well-built. However, I found the Orbitz to be much easier to program than the Clabor. The Clabor, while reliable, isn't very intuitive. The Orbitz is very easy to use and program. It's also easy to use in 'manual' mode, unlike the Clabor. Both timers survived the winter just fine (in my shed, not on the faucet) and the battery in both was also functional.
If you're trying to chose between the two, I'd recommend the Orbitz.
Customer Review: Outstanding Summary: 5 Stars
In anticipation of going on vacation in a couple months, I was concerned about my lawn getting watered. So I checked with Amazon to see what might be available.I purchased the Orbit 62001 water timer and installed it ahead of time to see whether it would do the job. Amazing! I have an underground sprinkler system, but it is manual - no electric timer. I am so impressed that I use only the Orbit to do my watering. I can only water on certain days and during certain times during the day. This is perfect. Yes, it does take a little intellect to program it and the instructions could be a little more detailed. I would suggest, after reading other reviews, that you use plumbers tape before you hook it up. A stich in time saves nine.
Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for! Summary: 5 Stars
After getting an orbit timer at my local lowes that only allowed me to set the timer to turn on every 6 or 12 hours, I returned it and went looking on amazon for a new one. I overseeded my lawn recently and wanted a timer I could set for certain times of day to water. This is exactly what I was looking for. You can set up to 4 specific watering times, and then tell the unit how long to water during each of those times. That helps out alot since I am not home during the day to water. Anyone looking for a great watering timer, look no further. Another awesome feature is the fact that I can remove the programming part seperately to change the program, which means I don't have to unscrew the entire timer to program it.
Customer Review: Very Nice Piece of Equipment Summary: 5 Stars
This timer looks good and works well. It is easy to program or to change functions such as days to water, watering time, etc. The ability to remove the control section from the valve is a real plus, I set it up in the cool of my house instead of our 100F+ Texas heat. Reliability remains a question. We have only had it about a month, but so far it works well. It feeds a 12 psi pressure regulator and 150 ft of soaker hose, a very nice setup!
Update 10/2010. We are approaching the end of the second full season of use with this water timer. It has worked flawlessly. For reliable operation, depending on use, you have to be prepared to replace a battery at least once per season.
Customer Review: Excellent and flexible programming timer Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this for about 3 weeks now and it's so easy to use. It's nice that you can detach the programming module from the valve too. I was very impressed to see how many options there were for programming it: certain days of week, every 2nd day, every 3rd day, etc. I like the feature to just cancel the programming for 24 hours. So, when I see rain is coming or it's raining, I just run out to the timer, press "clear" and the system goes to sleep for 24 hours and then resumes from there automatically. Manual override is easy to set by just entering the minutes you want it to run and you can rest assured the water will turn off and you won't need to worry about forgetting it.
