Tools and Hardware Reviews of Orbit 62001 Lawn and Garden Digital Watering Timer

Customer Review: Is it me or is it the timer?
Summary: 1 Stars

I've used timers like this for almost every garden I've ever had. I read the great reviews and opted for this over the DIG timers I was replacing (all three of them from my old place didn't work when I set up my irrigation in my new house!).
I set it up and this morning was it's first run and it failed miserably. I set it to start at 4:30 am and water for an hour. I could still hear the water going when I was getting ready for work at 7. It started but never stopped.
Any suggestions? I followed the directions for how to set it. Obviously if it doesn't close the valve then it's worthless. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Joan

Customer Review: A Wonderful Piece of Lawn Equipment
Summary: 5 Stars

This digital watering timer has been totally reliable, is very well-made, and does exactly what it purports to do. Just make sure that when you are installing it you do a test run in "manual" as the instructions suggest, or otherwise you might find that you just have a huge reservoir of water underneath your spigot because your hose was not fastened tightly enough to the timer. Otherwise, I totally trust this unit, so much so that I left it "on duty" while I was on vacation for over a week. As I expected, when I returned, it had regularly watered my lawn for the exact amount of time I had programmed it for, and nothing more, or less.

Customer Review: Very good except for the cheap hose connection
Summary: 4 Stars

I found the Orbit 62001 watering timer very easy to use. The digital interface was really easy and intuitive. The only problem I had is with the cheap black plastic hose connector at the bottom. Several times when I was adjusting my hose, it would pop off by the connector. If you were to keep disconnecting the hose, you will see wear on the plastic connector. It gives me a sense that the plastic threads on it are wearing out and will eventually be gone. I'll also recommend you use plumber's tape to make the connection tighter. In general, it's a great unit if you don't screw/unscrew the hose too often.

Customer Review: 2 years later still going strong
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought 2 of these units in July 2008 and they have both worked perfectly since then, still on the original batteries. They are very easy to programme and the display is easy to read making in situ adjustments quick and easy. We have sustained summer temps 35 - 45 degrees C here in Bahrain. We also experience dry, windy, dusty conditions, heavy downpours of rain at times and humidity upto about 70%. These units have worked continously through all of these conditions for 2 years now. I needed a 3rd unit and so bought one by Gilmour in a shop here but it is not as good despite costing more.

Customer Review: Works Great. Very Impressed.
Summary: 5 Stars

After spending most of the spring getting a nice garden going, we were concerned that the summer heat would kill it while away on our vacation. Living in central Florida the summers are brutal and the heat intensity can be fatal to a garden in a short time. After reading many reviews and doing some research we decided on this unit. It worked perfectly and did the job we needed. Now we use it for all kinds of watering jobs and it has never failed. The batteries can last a whole season. It is waterproof and the intense sun has not harmed it in any way. Highly Recommended.
